Jerez de la Frontera: How the Andalusian Horses Dance

2. Jerez de la Frontera: How the Andalusian Horses Dance

Marvel at the equestrian skills of Spanish horses and riders at a unique "How the Andalusian Horses Dance" ballet at the Fundacion Real Escuela Andaluza Del Arte Ecuestre (Foundation Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art) in Jerez de la Frontera. Accompanied by quintessential Spanish music and 18th-century style costumes, the choreography uses movements based on classical dressage, Doma Vaquera (country-style riding), and traditional equestrian chores. Each show consists of 6-8 different choreographies, scheduled by the school according to the following repertoire: Doma Vaquera: Doma Vaquera is a Spanish riding discipline, based on traditional cattle herding. The horseman rides his horse around the arena using only one hand, first trotting and later galloping, changing the rhythm and performing pirouettes and arreones (breaking into a gallop). Classical Dressage: See different choreographies, such as “The Colts,” “Airs on Horseback,” “Pas de Deux,” “Passage and Piaffer,” “Domino on Horseback,” “Airs Above the Ground” and “Fantasy.” The horses carry out advanced exercises to classical music. Carriage Driving: Marvel as the horses demonstrate their ability to draw carriages. These horse-drawn carriages were originally used for transport, but are now relegated to sport and exhibitions, using classical harnesses and driven by coachmen who dexterously demonstrate exciting skills. Work in Hand: Admire the skill of a horse that obeys its rider even when the horseman is not in the saddle. They will carry out classical Haute École dressage exercises, such as levades, caprioles, courbettes, piaffe (between pillars), and the Spanish walk. Carrousel: See a group of horses and riders perform advanced equestrian exercises in unison, providing a fitting end to the performance. V Schools 50th Anniversary Galas On the 30th of June and the 1st of July at 9 p.m., the Four Equestrian European Schools will be performing together for the first time: Austria, France, Spain & Portugal. Great tour of Cádiz. All the personnel involved with the tour were phenomenal. Wonderful Sonia, set the tour up for us and quickly provided all the info we needed. Since it was Holy Week and trains were full for our return to Seville, Sonia was able to book us a return taxi ride, but we arrived by train which it was very comfortable and easy to board and understand. Found our seats with relative ease. Beautiful scenery all the way to Càdiz. Leti, our tour guide met us and we learned a thorough history of Cadiz with its Venetian and Roman history. She also showed us some places to eat and things to see after the tour. We had a couple of hours left in Cadiz and had a wonderful dinner, went to the museum and toured the Mercado. Taxi driver met us at our requested time and returned back to Seville comfortably. Great experience and we would recommend it to everyone. Thanks again, specifically to Sonia and Leti.

Great trip, could have done with a little more time in Setenil because it was such a beautiful place but Ronda did also have a lot to offer and explore. The tour guide was easy to follow using the headphones. Instructions on where to remeet the group were clear and easy to follow.

It has been extraordinary, Juanjo the Guide has explained everything to us very well, he has taken us to the best places in Cádiz and without a doubt when we return I will book it with him, without a doubt we are super happy.

Had a really lovely day. Bella and Gemma the guides were both lovely and very knowledgeable. They helped us make the most of our time in Ronda and Setenil despite some really awful rainy weather. Would highly recommend.

It was a fantastic experience, well worththe money. We loved every minute of it.
