The walking tour starts by the Powder Tower at Namesti Republiky, where you will hear the story of how the new Czechoslovakia Republic was formed in 1918. Discover the dark days of Nazi occupation and liberation by the Russian Red Army in 1945. In the Wenceslas Square you will learn about the 1960s and the Prague Spring, when the Soviet Army crushed the nation's blossoming dreams of democracy in 1968. The tour takes you up to the Velvet Revolution in 1989, signaling the end of this grey period of Cold War history. You'll take a break for beer, kofola, or a snack in an authentic canteen of the working-class. Visiting a nuclear bunker from 50s will round off your communist adventure in Prague. You will also see historical photos of the events, people, buildings and statues, many of them now destroyed. To encourage dialogue, the group size is limited to eight people.

We were lucky enough to be the only people on our tour and to have Teresa as our guide. Hugely knowledgeable, charming, enthusiastic and funny, she was able to make the history of the city come alive and provide wider context to Prague under communism. The opportunity to go to a communist style canteen and to explore the nuclear bunker was really memorable. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Our guide, Klara, was absolutely brilliant. She covered so much with us and all done with the hugely personal touch of her own experiences. She was also happy enough to chat through many different questions and engage with us on our own personal stories. The tour was for 8, but it ended up being just us, which meant extra VIP treatment as able to take all the more advantage of Klara’s expert knowledge. I also feel this tour seems unique compared to the others as it covers elements of both world war 2 and the Cold War. This tour was worth the money and more and the 3.5 hours went so fast - thanks so much Klara!

We learned so much on this tour! Theresa was so knowledgeable and had personal experiences to share with us. We highly recommend her for tours of Prague. She has a wonderful sense of humor and was able to take us in a small group so we could ask questions. Best tour in Prague.
