From Prague: Sazava River Canoe Tour for All Levels

3. From Prague: Sazava River Canoe Tour for All Levels

Haven’t you ever experienced going down a river on a Canadian-style canoe? Leave the city behind and let yourself capture by a deep gorge that Sazava carved just outside the capital. The gorge is full of not just incredibly dense forests and dramatic rocks but also little cabins that locals built in late 20th century during the communist era. The guide will give you detailed instructions at the beginning of the trip and you will have enough time to try steering the boat on a flat water before we start. And of course your guide will be there for you any time you need assistance, though it is unlikely you will need his help after first few strokes of your paddle. Going down the river takes about 4 – 5 hours including few little breaks to breathe humid fresh air and of course you will stop for a small lunch en route. An added bonus of this trip is the way you get to the very starting point – by a local train line that cuts through a rocky terrain with some outstanding stone-made viaducts along the way. If you don’t have head for heights, you should better don’t lean out of the window! You need no special gear for this trip. In case of very low temperature and rainy weather it is recommended to use a wetsuit that you get upon request.

This tour was incredible! The views were breathtaking, Jan does an incredible job of showing the sites and also giving time to explore each location, it was extremely well organized and a once in a lifetime experience. I would recommend bringing comfortable shoes as there’s a fair amount of walking, plenty of water and a relaxed attitude. We were lucky enough to have a fun group and ended up all having a great time together. The perfect plan if you want to have an active day in nature and escape the buzz of the city!

I would definitely highly recommend this day trip! Really enjoyed the day with Jan earlier this week. We had a small group of 4 in total which was good and he picked us up early to miss the crowds. We enjoyed the conversations during the journey and liked the itinerary with options whether we wanted to walk more or less. Thank you!

The trip was fantastic!!! Joseph and Paul are very friendly, kind, knowledgeble and fun people and I enjoyed every single minute of it. We visited gorgeous sites and walked around the river in the early spring in April. Can not recommend the trip more! Plus the snacks are enless :)

Jan was a fun and informative guide. The sites we visited were breathtaking! The hikes were moderately strenuous, but the day was well-paced with several breaks for drinks and lunch. Highly recommend this tour to see the natural beauty of the area.
