Full description
After being picked up from your hotel in the morning, you will travel in an air-conditioned minivan towards Sabrosa, the wonderful wine region, where you will stop for a quick coffee before venturing into the mountains. After arriving to the first family owned vineyard, it will be time to have the first wine experience. This small-size producer will engage you in a guided tour of it's facilities and a taste of their port and DOC wines, all of excellent and recognized quality.  Proceeding on your journey, prepare to have a delicious lunch at the second vineyard where you can try the local specialties accompanied with their own wine. This setting will also allow you to contemplate the majestic landscapes formed around you. After lunch, it's time to visit their facilities and taste their ports. The tour will then stop by a corporate brand vineyard, visiting their beautiful facilities and enjoying their wonderful Ports and beautiful views.  You will then drive alongside the river, where recently the National Highway 222 was considered the best road in the world for those who enjoy driving, offering breathtaking views. After a whole day strolling through the winding roads of the Douro Valley, relax on the trip back to your hotel to which you'll arrive to in the early evening.

Excellent, including the guide, Hugo, that follows us for all the trip explaining all the Douro aspects from port wine making techniques to the bottled wine. We could not expect more cordiality. The winery's are awesome: Roeda, Santa Julia and Castelares and the lunch at Santa Julia Winery was soberb. You must taste the 20 and 30 years old tawny

Hugo our guide picked us up at the time indicated and was very friendly and informative. He took the trouble to go round and chat to everybody in our group. The vineyards we visited were in lovely settings and the meal was well cooked (even a veggie option!). We tried lots of wines, port, olive oil and even honey and felt that this trip was very good value for money. The only downside is not the company’s fault at all, but if you suffer from motion sickness you will find the travelling difficult since the rural roads are very winding!

There are a lot of tours of this kind offered and I was expecting a little more "mass tourism", but that is not true at all! Very interesting wineries and, above all, a great lunch in a great winery above the mountain. There was a VERY LOT of wine to drink everywhere and it was always refilled. This made the tour very fun ;-)
