We were picked up from our hotel by the lovely Hugo. There were 7 of us in the back of the open top Jeep. We were taken along back roads through villages and into the mountains. We saw many citrus trees, olive trees, quince, pomegranate, carob, peach and pear trees. Also sampled wild thyme, mint, rosemary and even smelled the leaves of a pepper tree. We saw farms with black pigs and goats. We even saw an avocado plantation. We stopped for a coffee break and for a break to sample the local fire water, the peri peri spice and to taste the local homey. Due to the weather being cold (as it’s nNovember), we did not do any swimming. It was also cold in the back of the Jeep, though if you dress warmly it would be fine. We had a very enjoyable day and would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see the sights of Portugal away from the beaches.
