What people are saying about Ponta Delgada

Furnas Valley tour --unique experience

Green Visions Tour company provided a wonderful tour of Furnas Valley and a tea plantation. Our driver-guide, Hugo, was great! He stopped at many scenic overlooks along the way to the volcano, to give us a full experience of seeing mountains covered with hydrangeas and agapanthus flowers growing wild ''everywhere'', along with happy dairy cows munching grass. The rocky cliffs overlooking the Atlantic ocean provided another scenic experience. Once at the volcano, we saw hot, bubbling pools of mud, smelled the sulfur, and watched the volcanic steam billow up into the air. We were right on time to see the special stew that is cooked for 5 hours in large casserole containers, coming out of the ground. Hugo took us to a famous local restaurant for lunch of cozido stew, Sao Jorge cheese, homemade bread, wine, and pineapple dessert. Our next stop was the Cha Gorreana tea plantation. Saw workers picking the tea leaves, and the tea factory producing tea with same equipment for 100 years.

Amazing experience

We had a fantastic day out. Our guide Nuno told us all about Sao Miguel with enthusiasm. He gave us time to look around at the sights. We have been very impressed by the beautiful island. Furnas was a real experience with the springs and later lunch (Cozida stew) in the restaurant. Absolute must!

We were very lucky to be the only couple to have the experience. Having a guide who for half a day took us and explained the most characteristic places on the island was fantastic. Super prepared guide and available to meet our needs. Super recommended!
