Your guide will take you to see houses and everyday items that were still almost intact when the city was unearthed. Experience this everyday Roman town, almost like it was under the Roman Empire. Highlights include the Roman Amphitheater, small theater, and public gymnasium. Overall, I thought the tour was a brisk and good overview of the Pompeii ruins. We had booked a 9:30AM tour and we arrived a few minutes early at the meeting location (the train station), but there were no noticeable GetYourGuide signs, as it appears GetYourGuide along with several other travel companies like TripAdvisor just subcontract out to local independent tour guides who conduct the tour (our actual guide was excellent and listening to the others, they appeared to be excellent too). Anyway, they did not start our tour at 9:30AM but made us wait upstairs until a new group formed and it started at 10AM. However, several people in our group did not have skip-the-line tickets, so while we were able to "skip-the-line", we still had to wait 15 minutes on the other side of the gates for the other people to get their tickets, which defeated the purpose. It was also sweltering hot and my children were miserable just standing there waiting.

The guide Laura was super nice and informative, but the whole organisation of the tour is a bit chaotic and it’s hard to find the place where the tour starts. Upon exchanging vouchers, dozens of people are crammed up in this little room and balcony, only for them to take us out in front of the building after 10 mins, so that made zero sense. The initial group had to split into two due to the size, which as understandable, but it was done very chaotically and people didn’t really understand what was happening or where to go. That being said, the tour was amazing and showed all the most important parts of Pompei while being able to immerse into history and imagine how life used to look like back then.

Ticket office wasn't the easiest to find, esp coming by car. We missed our scheduled tour. But the tour co was very flexible and just slotted us into the next tour time. Lots of people on the tour and the site was pretty crowded, so it made it hard at times when we entered a small, enclosed place since we were all jockeying for the prime viewing spot. Our guide shared a great deal of interesting facts and stories about Pompeii - she made it entertaining and fun to listen to, and we learned a lot in the 2 hours. I think this is a great way to see the highlights of Pompeii if you only have a fixed amount of time in the Naples area. We only scratched the surface, but we and our college/high school kids came away with a good appreciation and general grasp of this amazing archeological wonder!
