Full description
Explore the nature and wildlife at the Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation & Awareness Center in Plettenburg Bay on this 2-night experience. Enjoy on-site lodging, homemade South African meals, and guided tours to discover the local animals and environment. On arrival and check-in, get welcomed to the center and taken on a brief orientation before being shown your accommodation and allowed to settle in. Meet your host for afternoon cocktails as you relax on the deck overlooking the cheetahs. Dinner is served from the lapa (courtyard), where you will taste traditional South African homecooked fare, some of which is prepared from the veggie garden. After dinner, relax by the fire before heading to bed. As you awaken, hear the early calling of the birds and lions. Enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee served with your breakfast. After breakfast, enjoy free time to relax and see the grounds of the lodge before your guided forest walk. Meet your guide for a walk along historical logging paths in the indigenous forest that is a private reserve. The paths meander through the forest, giving an opportunity to spot the Knysna Loerie and the ironwood and yellowwood trees that made the area famous in historical times. Depending on your fitness level and interests, you can enjoy your picnic in a hidden forest glade or in a quaint picnic area before returning to your accommodation. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore the other ecotourism activities in the area. Later, dinner will again be served in the lapa. After breakfast the following morning, join a guided tour to see the indigenous wild cats of South Africa and other local wildlife before returning to your accommodation for a final opportunity to relax before checking out.
