Set out from Madrid to discover a city where Christians, Jews, and Muslims intermingled hundreds of years ago in this half-day tour of Toledo. Visit the High Gothic cathedral, Plaza de Zocodover, and Church of Santo Tomé. Walk the same streets described in Cervantes’s Don Quixote. The tour starts with a bus ride from Madrid. Upon arrival in Toledo, stop first at the Mirador del Valle. Snap a picture of the panoramic view. The historic center of Toledo stands on the other side of the Tagus River. Spot the Alcazar and the Toledo Cathedral with their prominent towers. In the old city, stop in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Learn about the Toledo Cathedral before entering. Look for features in the mudejar style. They are one example of the influence Islamic architecture had on the church’s design. Don’t miss the ornate retable while walking through the cathedral.  From the Cathedral, wind along the streets into the Jewish Quarter. The buildings showcase the mixing of cultures hundreds of years ago, such as the Church of San Tome. Go inside to see a large painting by El Greco. Note the elongated faces and hands. They are the painter’s trademarks. Continue further to the Synagogue of Santa Maria La Blanca. Look around to find the various Jewish, Christian, and Islamic influences. We will meet fifteen minutes before departure time at the Julià Travel office, located in the centre of Madrid. From there, we will depart with the guide to the city of the three cultures, Toledo. After a bus ride of approximately one hour, we will arrive to Toledo, where we will first take a panoramic tour. You will be impressed from the very first moment, as we will go up to the Mirador del Valle, an elevated area from where we will have the best views of the city. At this point you will enjoy a short free time to take as many photos as you wish. Then, we will go down to the old town of Toledo, where we will start a walking tour through the most important areas of the city, passing by places like the Cathedral, the Plaza de Zocodover or the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, where we will have the opportunity to access and visit it. Did you know that since 1986 Toledo is considered as World Heritage of Humanity? No doubt, this is synonymous that the city will surprise you. At the end of the guided tour of the city, we will have free time to rest and have lunch, as we will still have time to visit one of the most important wineries in Castilla La Mancha. After lunch, we will get back on the bus to head towards the oldest winery in the region. Here we will have the opportunity to enjoy a complete wine tourism experience, as well as delve into the art of winemaking in a unique setting, a bicentennial winery that is surrounded by a carefully tended vineyard, where the most prestigious grape varieties in the country are found. Of course, we can't leave without tasting some of its best wines, accompanied by an aperitif. Once we have finished our visit to the winery, we will return to Madrid, where we will finish the tour, very close to the Royal Palace.

The tour will begin in Plaza Zocodover, the nerve center of the historic quarter, from where we can admire the north façade of the Alcázar, designed by Alonso de Covarrubias in the 16th century. We will walk through the Alcaná, an old commercial area where it is said Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote de La Mancha, used to walk. In the Ayuntamiento Square we will be surprised by the beautiful Cathedral and its 92-meter-high tower, where rests the Campana Gorda (the “Fat Bell”), the largest in Spain. Known as the Dives Toletana, it is the richest cathedral in the country, thanks to the incomparable artistic and historical heritage that it houses inside, which we recommend you visit it with one of our guides. In this square there are other important buildings: The Archbishop's Palace, residence of the Archbishop of Toledo; and the Town Hall, designed in the 16th century by Juan de Herrera, a famous architect who collaborated in the design of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and whose last name gives its name to an architectural style: Herreriano style. On this visit we will also discover the Jewish Quarter, where the guide will delve into the history of this town that left an important influence on the city, its architecture and its history. A large number of monuments are concentrated here, such as: The Church of Santo Tomé, which preserves the most important painting by El Greco; the synagogues of Santa María la Blanca and del Tránsito, and the Monastery of San Juan de Los Reyes.

Considered one of the most important Gothic Cathedrals in Spain. Admire the stained glass windows decorating the naves and discover the history of this great monument. The Paseo de San Cristobal is the scene where the "Legend of the Toledan Night" tells us that one macabre night many Mozarabs were beheaded in the ninth century, as a result of the revenge of the Muladis.
