Cusco: City and Nearby Ruins 5-Hour Guided Tour

1. Cusco: City and Nearby Ruins 5-Hour Guided Tour

Your 5-hour tour begins in the early afternoon with a pick-up at your accommodation in downtown Cusco. Begin by visiting the Coricancha Sun Temple, a wonderful ceremonial construction built during the heyday of the Incas. Your next stop is the Plaza de Armas, Cusco’s main square. Admire the spectacular interiors of the Cathedral as your guide explains how it was built on top of Inca buildings.  Then enjoy a drive to the northern outskirts of Cusco to the spectacular Inca complex at Sacsayhuaman. Pass through the openings of the huge Inca walls, built with massive rocks weighing up to 180 tons fitted with absolute perfection. Continue to another important Inca site, known as Qenqo (zigzag). This very unusual place has subterranean passages hidden in its perfectly carved stone interior. It is likely that the Incas probably mummified their dead here. Visit the Inca baths at Tambomachay and the military lookout point of Puka Pukara. Be driven back to downtown Cusco where your tour ends.

Excellent tour! Worthwhile

This is a very good comprehensive tour of the most relevant Inca temples in and around Cuzco. We started at the Cathedral (previously an Inca temple), then went to St Domingue (Qoricancha temple), and then visited the ruins near Cuzco: Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Tambomachay (we skipped Puca Pucara because the sun was setting). The guide, Carlos, was extremely good. He guided in English and we all enjoyed learning many details. I definitely recommend it.

We were group of about 10 people. We have visited all the key sights. Our tour guide Edwin was great. She knew many things about the sites and was also very helpful with our questions. I can recommend as a great introduction to Cusco/Sacred valley/MaPi visit.

I was so lucky to have Marco Antonio as my guide. He creates a whole special experience out of this tour! Also tour went for one extra hour to ensure that we complete our program.

Our very helpful Hilda guide, knows a lot about history, took us to several archeological sites, it was a great experience.

The very good guide guides you and explains everything. It travels many places in a single day
