Before arriving at Contoy, make a stop to snorkel in the reef Parque Nacional Isla Contoy. Admire the natural beauty of the island and go for a walk, visiting the museum to observe the typical flora and fauna, then move on to the viewpoint to take some pictures of the island and its beaches, visit the lagoon, and appreciate different bird species. Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world, and you can easily spot them this time of year because they are hungry. Their primary meal, plankton, can be found near the surface. After an hour or two, be rewarded with the first views of the whale sharks. Observe them from the boat and jump into the water to swim with them up close, if you are feeling brave. With your fins and mask, snorkel alongside the whale shark for a real rush of adrenaline. After the whale shark activity, get your gear and snorkel at the coral reef to see some tropical fish. Enjoy a delicious Caribbean-style lunch while lounging in the water at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
