After exploring Ollantaytambo, take the train to Aguas Calientes and spend the night in a hotel. Day 2: Machu Picchu – CuscoWake up early at your hotel, have breakfast, and take one of the first busses up to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, simply show an original passport at the checkpoint to enter the citadel. First, take a short hike to the Sungate of Inca Bridge before exploring the fortress with your guide. Enjoy a guided tour for about 3 hours, visiting the most remarkable terraces, storehouses, temples, and palaces. Spend some free time exploring the site by yourself or take an optional, extra hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. After breakfast you go to the bus station to start the trip to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu was hidden by the mountains and the tropical jungle, it was discovered in 1911 by the North American explorer Hiram Bingham.
