Ljubljana: Karst & Coast Full-Day Trip

1. Ljubljana: Karst & Coast Full-Day Trip

Discover the Slovenian coast and the Karst region on this full-day trip. Your first stop is the Skocjan Caves, one of the largest and most fascinating Karstic sites in Europe, where the Reka River runs 200 meters below the surface. Next, stop at a local tavern and taste the famous Karst air-dried prosciutto. It is easy to see why locals believe it to be the best prosciutto in the world, especially when accompanied by a local Teran wine. Head on to Lipica, which is the homeland of the white Lipizzaner – the breed of horse made famous by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. Continue through the coastal towns of Koper, Izola and Portoroz to reach everyone’s favorite spot on the Slovenian coast – Piran. Lose yourself in its narrow, medieval streets and enjoy some free time over an exquisite seafood meal in one of the many local restaurants or cafes. One last stop at Predjama Castle on the way to Ljubljana. Discover the secrets of the largest cave castle (Guinness World Records!), located on a 123-meter high cliff and learn about the local Robin Hood, the legendary knight Erazem.

What people are saying about Piran

We have loved this tour to all the participants that met that same day. I think it is the best tour that Roundabout Travel offers for the itinerary and content. The tour guide was the best I've had in Slovenia: Tusi Polonca. He was very close, cheerful and managed to keep the group very excited and united. Thank you very much Tusi!

Fun day trip to the coast and so glad we got to see the Skocjan caves with the underground canyon - breathtaking and ultimate LotR vibes. And Piran is such a beautiful seaside town - wouldn't have minded an extra hour or two here.

It was interesting and a bit disappointing at the caves as we not allowed to take pictures, but rules are rules. The tour guide was fantastic

Awesome tour! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. You definitely pack a lot in to one day. Worth the trip!
