From Phi Phi: Sunset and Bioluminescent Plankton Boat Tour

1. From Phi Phi: Sunset and Bioluminescent Plankton Boat Tour

Explore the beauty around the Phi Phi Islands on a 6-hour longtail boat tour. Watch the sunset over the Phi Phi archipelago and enjoy some included snacks, then take a dip with bioluminescent plankton once the sun has gone down. Make your way to the meeting point in front of McDonald's in Tonsai Bay at 1:30 PM. Once you have boarded your boat, depart for Monkey Beach, one of Koh Phi Phi's most interesting beaches inhabited only by monkeys. Encounter the macaques on the island, which are also known as crab-eating macaques as they are often seen foraging for crabs. Next, sail to discover the mysteries of the Viking Cave, famous for the seemingly prehistoric painting of a Viking boat on its wall. The cave was once used for the extraction of birds' nests, prized ingredients in Chinese culture for making medicinal soups believed to help with longevity. Continue your tour to Pi Leh Lagoon, and marvel at the azure/turquoise waters in this beautiful enclosed lagoon encircled by towering limestone cliffs. See certain spots glow from beneath the water, and take advantage of this fantastic photo opportunity. After Pi Leh Lagoon, head to Loh Samah Bay to snorkel with diverse marine life on a coral reef. Admire this wonderful paradise, which provides an alternative to the world-famous Maya Bay from the film “The Beach” due to its proximity. Maya Bay is closed for another 2 years to allow recovery from over-tourism but is separated from Loh Samah Bay by only one limestone mountain. Finally, enjoy a spectacular sunset with views of the Phi Phi archipelago before swimming with bioluminescent plankton at night. Delight in the glow of the plankton as they are touched in the water, making it look like you are swimming with stars in the night sky. The tour concludes with a transfer back to the port at around 7:30 PM.

What people are saying about Phi Phi Islands

I had the most wonderful time on this tour! The tour guides were super helpful and accomodation as I was in the minority being an English speaker. They made sure to inform me where we were going and what we were doing next. On the boat there was an endless supply of drinking water and Pepsi. At one point there was even fruit we could help ourselves to. The buffet style lunch was amazing. There was so much to choose from and the food was really good. I could see that it was all fresh and cooked well.

Great family experience. 100% worth the extra cost for a private tour with you own boat if you go with kids. We were comfortable the whole time. We got to chose our own itinerary with the help of our tour guide. Our tour guide, Patrick, was very helpful with information and tends to our needs. The food and drinks provided were amazing. The boat captain and his deck hand were top notch. They go above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. Thank you Patrick and the Simba Sea Tours crew.

Our day started our cloudy and the sea was a bit choppy, but our captain was excellent and safely got us to a beautiful lagoon for snorkeling. We visited so many places during our boat ride. Each one more beautiful than the next. The skies cleared by the mid afternoon and our swim at Bamboo Island was perfect. Thank you for an amazing day.

our guide was amazing and so friendly!! we had such a lovely day with the boat all to ourselves and the chance to see all the hidden gems near Phi Phi - would definitely recommend :)

Beautiful experience in a private environment. Amazing nature. Maya beach is a bucket list view. Loved the snorkeling as well with such abundance of colors.
