The palace and gardens were beautiful but despite paying for foreign citizen tickets we were only offered Russian audio guides. There are places where it's not permitted to take photos but you're given out to in Russian as there are no English signs.Found myself shooed on a lot which was frustrating when trying to take photos. Almost a full day is required to really see everything. Upper garden at the time of our visit was under renovation but we were not informed before purchasing our tickets on Get your Guide.

Elena the guide was excellent. Unfortunately the tour was delayed by 45 mins (admittedly prearranged to change from 9.00 to 9.30 but she and also the taxi were late) so when we got to a Peterhof the place was absolutely crowded out with other huge tours so we lost any advantage. The so called VIP entrance was a joke and we queued there for over half an hour all tightly bunched up together. Once inside the staff efficiently moved us through, but it was a race so no time to dwell and look at the Artifacts. I was not aware when booking that the 12th June was a public holiday, though the crowds going into the Palace where nearly all tourists. As said above Elena rose above the difficulty and kept cheerful and professional in very difficult circumstances. By the end of the day we did say we had enjoyed it, but only after a nice lunch in the restaurant there and walk round the grounds. The gold fountains were superb

    5. Peterhof Palace and Gardens Half-Day Tour

Commissioned by Peter the Great, Peterhof is the oldest of the Imperial residences of Russia. Today it is a park complex that includes the principle palace and a number of smaller palaces. Today the palace contains a remarkable collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture and much more. Rooms dating back to Peter’s time can be found alongside golden shining baroque halls and calm and austere rooms from the Classical period. Peterhof is often referred to as the Russian Versailles. Only the one in the tour do I got the best of everything My tour guide Yana is an exceptional one explaining the history, art, and philosophies of Russia in a very fun manner. She loves what she does and that makes the whole tour better! We had some awesome borscht too after the tour and Alexis the driver toured us around the city too.

Both guide and driver were very knowledgeable and helpful. Pick up and drop off were on time. The car was clean. The guide also explained the history of St. Petersburg as well as outer cities (on our way to the palaces). All in all, it was fun and informative.

We got there quickly! With great views overboard! And without wasting any extra time.
