Ushuaia: Full-Day Off-Roading and Horseback Riding Lake Tour

1. Ushuaia: Full-Day Off-Roading and Horseback Riding Lake Tour

Head off on a full-day excursion in the wilderness of southern Argentina with a 4WD tour, followed by horseback riding, and a walk around marvelous lakes with the majestic Andes Mountains surrounding you. Start your day bright and early with a pickup at your hotel, and head straight to the lake region by driving on the national route N°3, where you will cross peat valleys and the Andes Mountains through the Garibaldi Pass. Continue along the road through old trails used for logging, marveling at the deep valleys around you as your expert local guide tells you the history of the route and the mountains. Once you cross the iconic Andes Mountains, catch a glimpse of the glorious Lago Escondido, before descending to its borders, where you'll begin your off-roading adventure. Once there, stop for a rest to meet your horses, and enjoy a delicious snack. Then, hop on your horse, specially chosen according to each person's riding experience, and enjoy a leisurely ride for about 30 minutes. Next, tuck into a local lunch on the side of one of the largest lakes in Argentina, the Lago Fagnano, including an Argentine platter of cheeses and charcuterie as a starter, followed by the main dish, and tea or coffee. After lunch, take a walk to enjoy the immensity of the Lake Fagnano up close, before returning to Ushuaia.

In this tour, you will go to the ski center and have free time to explore and try out some sports. At the top of the mountain, enjoy beautiful views of the Nahuel Huapi and Gutiérrez lakes, the Andes mountain range, the Tronador hill, and the surrounding hills. With a wide range of gastronomic options and commercial establishments, there’s plenty to do even for those not so sport-inclined.  In winter, you’ll find everything you need for skiing and snowboarding: from equipment rentals to schools prepared to teach at all levels. In summer, check out the many adventure activities fit for the whole family — like climbing, trekking, mountain biking, rappelling, and more.

From Ushuaia: King Crab Fishing Day Trip with Lunch

3. From Ushuaia: King Crab Fishing Day Trip with Lunch

Feel like a local as you catch your own crab in the Beagle Channel and learn the culinary secrets of Patagonian-style crab. Explore a native forest and a traditional fishing village on a guided trip. After pick-up from your hotel, head to your first stop, a dense native forest by the coast. Walk through the woods to visit an impressive waterfall before returning to the vehicle. Next, see Puerto Almanza, the southernmost fishing port in Argentina. From there, drive to a small fishing village, where nearly everyone fishes, catching crab, mussels, and other typical mollusks. Meet your local host family and board their boat. Sail to where they lay their traps and pull them up. Hopefully, they’ll be full of crabs.  On the return to shore, your hosts will prepare a crab in the Patagonian style, boiled in salty seawater, and teach you how to eat it. After lunch, you will head back to your hotel.

Bariloche: Full-Day El Bolsón and Puelo Lake Tour

4. Bariloche: Full-Day El Bolsón and Puelo Lake Tour

Head south from Bariloche on a magnificent journey to the town of El Bolsón. Pass by the Gutierrez and Mascardi lakes, then through the wilderness of Pampa del Toro and La Veranda, where you can take in views of the mighty Ñirihuau and Aspero mountain ranges. Cruise down a sinuous road through Cañadón de la Mosca. A few minutes later, arrive at the small village of Villegas River. Cross the Foyel River, the Quemquemtreu River, and arrive in El Bolsón, a tiny town nestled in a picturesque area at the foot of the Cerro Piltriquitron Mountain. At the local fair in the central square, discover amazing craftwork — proof that the local artisans have achieved an undeniable level of skill in working with wood, clay, metals, stones, dried flowers, among many other materials.  The market is famous throughout Patagonia and consists of more than 230 stands, where you can find wool, knives, preserves, pottery, and more. What people are saying about Patagonia, Argentina

The trip is a little long, but we make a few stops along the way. The landscape is beautiful and the promenade is crowned with the beautiful view of Lake Puelo. The little town of El Bolsón is beautiful and has recently been renovated. A very pleasant day is spent on this tour, which can also be done by people with low mobility, since it is not necessary to walk a lot.

Magnificent tour of the hinterland of Ushuaia in the company of Jorge on the immense family lands by the lakes, where they raise horses. Break and lunch in the comfortable cabins of their family. Adorable people who share the characteristics and history of the region, impressive 4x4 trips, well-trained and quiet horses, good local meals and superb landscapes.

It turned out to be an unforgettable trip. The atmosphere and vision of the place was exciting. A place worth visiting again.

The guides were so nice and knowledgeable. Loved the ride in the truck. I only wish the horseback riding lasted longer.
