Full description

A visit to the Louvre is a must-do in Paris, as the museum contains many of civilization's most famous artistic masterpieces.

Many visitors feel intimidated by the site's vastness and the collection's magnitude; join this tour to skip the lines and get straight to the highlights. Your guide will ensure your visit to the Louvre is among the most memorable moments of your trip to Paris. The Louvre’s awkward layout is because it was not built to function as a museum; the sprawling structure has nearly 10 miles of galleries. Navigate the halls, conveying the most important works and pointing out numerous lesser-known beauties you might have passed without noticing.

You might appreciate the French Crown Jewels, Egyptian antiquities many thousands of years old, sculptural wonders by Michelangelo, and large-format canvases such as Liberty Leading the People and the Coronation of Napoleon.

Admire the richly furnished and decorated salons preserved from the Second Empire, the last time the Louvre was home to a sovereign. And, of course, you won’t leave without spending some time in the presence of the most famous painting in the world, Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

Your guide will provide explanations and anecdotes about this enigmatic image. You’ll leave with a better sense of why she’s such a wonder to behold. After your guided service, you can remain in the museum until closing time if you wish.

Our guide, Astrid, made our visit to Louvre an absolutely fascinating, memorable and superlative! 3 hours were over so soon. Right from the time we were greeted (15 min before the actual appt time) till we finished the tour, every second was filled with great insights. Apart from Monalisa, there were many other amazing exhibits -- The Oath of Horati, The Winged Victory of Samothrace, Venus de Milo, Raft of Medusa, Victory leading the people, Sphinx... It sure was well worth every cent and every moment we spent there!

Lawrence was fabulous and shared a ton of historical information. Her energy was amazing and it was clear she enjoyed being there. Her pace between stops was quick but the small group of 6 was able to keep up and hear what she had to say. We covered a lot of territory and at times felt we might be missing something...but it was purposely designed to give us a taste of the 35,000 items to see that requires many more visits to appreciate, especially if they have a story like the exhibits we stopped at.

This was the most amazing tour we've ever been on. Our guide, John, was absolutely excellent. He was so informative and kept us moving right along. If you could choose a guide when you book a tour I would surely ask for John. The small group (there were six of us) made it easy to hear the guide and to stay together. Also it minimized the time lost when somebody gets off the trail and has to be found. Most excellent tour!!
