Full description

Skip the Louvre’s famously long lines gives and visit the museum’s must-see attractions. Your expert guide will unveil subtle details most visitors never learn about the works of art on show. Discover the "Mona Lisa", the "Venus de Milo" and the "Winged Victory of Samothrace".

The tour also features Greek and Roman antiquities like the 4,000-year-old "Great Sphinx of Tanis", other recognisable works by Da Vinci and Raphael, and highlights of the French Romantic period. Sculptures like Michelangelo’s "Dying Slave" and Antonio Canova’s "Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss" add another dimension to the experience. In the Apollo Gallery, you’ll glimpse the Louvre’s own history as the Royal Palace, before Louis XIV relocated the court to Versailles. The equally opulent décor of the Second Empire is also preserved in the Napoleon Apartments. After the tour, you can continue exploring the Louvre at your leisure.

Meet your guide at the Arc du Carrousel (the meeting point is not located at the entrance to the Louvre). This is a monumental arch with a horse-drawn chariot on top, situated across the road from the courtyard of the Louvre. Standing with your back to the entrance of the Louvre Museum and Pyramid, you will see it across the road, past the roundabout, before the entrance to the Tuileries Garden (Jardin des Tuileries).

The meeting place was easy to find. You definitely need a guide to tour the Louvre. It’s very easy to get lost in there. Our guide was amazing! She was so knowledgeable about everything- sculptures, paintings, rooms…she knew the history of it all. And she was very personable and patient and funny. Some people in our group wandered away and got lost and she had to go back and find them. She was very calm and professional.

The tour was really great! The guide was easy to find and started giving us history lessons even before we went inside. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and funny. She gave us plenty of background information and personalized it so that everyone of all ages and backgrounds could understand. The Louvre is so massive that it’s hard to see everything, so I appreciated the guided tour throughout the exhibits. Good balance of guide and self discovery. I could tell she knew her subject well because she gave us mini quizzes and didn’t even need to look at the descriptions on the art. 10/10 experience

I had such a great time on this tour! Séverine was our guide and she was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about art. This was my first time visiting the Louvre and we saw (and learned about) a bunch of the most famous pieces of art in the museum (the place is so big, having a guide makes the experience so much more enjoyable). Skipping the line is also a huge plus. I recommend this tour.
