Full description
Discover a treasure chest of modern and contemporary art at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and experience the city’s 3rd most important gallery after the Louvre and Orsay Museum. Start with an explanation of the building, itself a piece of avant garde art. Then, skip the long lines, and follow your guide through the chronological and thematically arranged complex. Marvel at art from the early 20th century to the present day, learning about abstract art and how to place it in its proper context to appreciate it more. Principal art pieces included on the tour are “Il Ritorno di Ulisse” (“Ulysses’ Return”) by Chirico, “La Ville No. 2” by the Orphism artist Robert Delaunay, and “Rose Sélavy” by Duchamp. Admire Otto Dix’s challenging “Portrait of a Journalist Sylvia von Harden,” and Max Ernst’s collage “Ubu Imperateur.” Your guide will explain the meanings of Picasso’s “Femme nue Couchée,” and the abstract expressionist art of Jackson Pollock. I highly recommend even as a French to be accompanied in a museum in France. First you are not alone. And it's already huge! Share with you a unique sensory and cultural experience with a guide who listens to your problems with art and provides you with keys to understanding.

No plan of modern art? A private tour with Boris and in two hours he introduces his guests to the most diverse styles and their facets with great knowledge and in the best English using a well-considered selection of modern works. It is particularly worth mentioning that this is not done while lecturing. It was a lot of fun for us to follow him through this fascinating museum and to be able to place the works in a better context and thus look at them with different eyes. We felt like more modern art!

This was the best guided tour we've ever had, anywhere.

This was the best guided tour we've ever had, anywhere. Our tour of the Pompidou collection was a fascinating two-hour mini-seminar on modern art. Boris, our guide, is a genial, attentive, well-spoken, thoroughly knowledgeable young humanist scholar. We thank him for an altogether delightful and informative morning at the Pompidou.
