Full description
Begin this full-day Monet bike tour with a scenic coach journey through the spectacular wheat and sunflower fields of Normandy. Speed by the lazy Seine River, and stop off at the village of Vernon. Here, you will visit the charming farmers' market to buy picnic supplies. Then, hop-on your bike and pedal across the river to a beautiful park along the banks of the Seine. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing 3-mile (5-kilometer) ride down bike paths to the village of Giverny. Cruise past Giverny Church and its cemetery, which contains graves of local citizens dating back to the 17th Century, as well as British soldiers from World War 2, and even Monet himself buried within his family's vault. Pass Hotel Baudy, where Impressionist painters Manet and Renoir used to paint. You will then arrive at the highlight of the day, Monet's Garden. Spend about 90 minutes exploring the gardens and house, including the famous water lily pond where some of his most famous works originated. Additionally, you can explore the village of Giverny, which boasts the American Museum of Art, located across the street from Monet's Gardens, as well as numerous cafés and small streets begging to be discovered.

It was very nice and relaxed. The garden and house can be quite crowded though. Would probably go again on a weekday instead of weekend. Our guide was cool, I just did not expect there to be so much info while we were on the bus. My wife found it all very interesting, I preferred sleeping. The bike tour, market in Vernon, and picnic by the Seine were great, and Monet's house and garden were very beautiful and far larger than I expected.

The tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced with the subject matter and the area we were exploring. The tour overall was organized and well worth the money. We thoroughly enjoyed the market shopping, picnic lunch, bike riding and of course the spectacular Monet property, which is filled with so many beautiful flowers that really bring his paintings to life! Thanks for a great experience!

My husband, and friend and I spent a delightful day on this tour with Richard as our fabulous guide. We joined a goup of 7 others and boarded a bus to Vernon, about 7k from Giverny. Richard gave a bit of history of Giverny on the way. At Vernon, we stopped to wander around an amazing open air market to shop for items to have for our picnic lunch. We met back as a group to get our bikes, baskets and helmets (if desired), adjusted our bikes as needed and listened to Richard's safety and general directions. Ate our lunches on the bank of the river and rode the remaining 5 or 6 km to Giverny. It's necessary to ride for a short distance through Vernon where there is a little traffic, but nothing like in Paris. The majority of the ride is flat and on a bike train to Giverny. Slight uphill in a few spots, but the bikes are equipped with gears to help.
