Full description

Escape the hustle and bustle of Parisian life and enter into the Garden of France. Stroll the walkways of the French monarchs, hear tales of royal love affairs and kidnappings, and behold the beauty of the Loire Valley's exquisite Chateaux.  The first stop of the day is Château de Chambord; the perfect example of French Renaissance architecture, this remarkable structure was built by King François I between 1519-1547 and is the largest château in the Loire Valley.

Who designed this masterpiece is still in dispute, and with contenders including Leonardo da Vinci, its sights are sure not to disappoint. Next up is the charming Château de Chenonceau, a true fairy tale castle set picturesquely on the Cher River, its history and character has been shaped by the women who've inhabited it. The site of the first-ever French fireworks display, Chenonceau is really one to fall in love with. The last stop will be at Château de Cheverny, a 17th-century beauty furnished in great taste and with marvelous gardens. Enjoy free time for lunch (not included) during the day either at Chenonceau or Chambord. You’ll be back in Paris in the evening.

From the moment we left Paris we were in the hands of two great professionals who brought the history of France and especially the Loire Chateaux to life. Beautifully organised at each venue we could relax and enjoy a perfect day. Great guiding, lovely food, nice walks with plenty of time. I cannot praise the lady and gentleman enough - and all organised in perfect English! Heaven. Thank you. Ian Elliott

This is our first visit in France/Paris and so we weren't sure whether to take a day out of our week in Paris to see something different. We LOVED it! The Loire castlea are so beautiful and have such a different vibe from the Paris sites. The tour was very well put together and the 3 casters well chosen. We though the time allocated to Chambord was just fine but would have liked at least 30 min more at Cheverny (shorten the time at Chenoncean). The gardens there are beyond belief with so many colorful tulips in spring! Oh and if you can spare some time for the wine tasting and shop at this last castle!

We booked this tour last minute because Versailles closed due to strikes. I read the reviews but we are not huge fans of organized tours so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We were so pleased we went on this tour! One of the highlights of our trip! Bus was very comfortable and clean. Two guides, knowledgeable and pleasant. We booked the self guided tour so basically we got some information on the bus then toured the chateaux on our own. We got on the bus at 7am, drove about 2 hours, toured first castle, drove another 1.5 hours, had about 2.5 hours to tour and get lunch, drove 1 hour, toured last chateau for about 1.5 hours, and drove back to Paris about 2.5 hours. This is a great introduction to the Loire valley castles. I could have spent hours at each one, but this gives you a taste. It was wonderful to get to see these places and not have to worry about tickets, reservations, transportation…all done for you. Long day, but a great one! And my 2 teen daughters agree!
