Panauti with Bhaktapur Day trip

1. Panauti with Bhaktapur Day trip

On this full day trip from Kathmandu, explore the city of Bhaktapur and the village of Panauti. The tour begins with sightseeing at Panauti village, a historical Newari town which is around 32 kilometers southeast of Kathmandu on the confluence of the Rosi and Punyamati rivers. In Nepali society, such rivers are considered to be sacred. Panauti, once a major trading center with its own royal palace, today consists of a variety of Buddhist and Hindu religious monuments, and is considered to be one of the area's most important medieval sites. Panauti is one of the oldest towns in Nepal, with many temples dating back to the 15th Century or earlier. Visit the Indreshwar Temple, one of the largest and tallest pagoda style temples in Nepal dating back to 13 century. Next, visit Brahmayani Temple, another important monument constructed in the 17th century to honor Brahmayani, the goddess of the town. Stroll around the complex and admire the beauty of the historic architecture, and watch the locals paying respect to their idols. Finally, visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a museum of medieval art and architecture with many examples of sculptures, woodcarvings and colossal pagoda temples consecrated to different gods and goddesses. Witness a unique culture here, and admire some of the finest displays of craftsmanship. Bhaktapur is the only place in Nepal that has remained untouched by western culture.

I am a quiet but very demanding customer This tour was very good. Or not really very good, but excellent. My guide explained extensively about the places and paid attention to my interests the whole time. He waited patiently while I took photos. Showed well-described objects that I didn't understand myself. Told about the destinations extensively, but not too much. That's a skill too. Took me to a couple of shops, but the whole time I had the feeling that I didn't have to buy anything. And what's the most important. Treated the objects with the respect they deserve. He spoke quietly, told where it was appropriate to take photos, was kind to the guards and cashiers, etc. So you don't see this often. Many guides think they have the right to behave however they want. The driver was good. But still a couple of situations where I thought that it was really a good decision not to go anywhere further by car. Traffic in Nepal is terrible. I recommend this particular company.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour!! Kathmandu Valley is breathtaking but our guide, Bharat, made it so much fun. He was full of information and just a joy to be around. We were completely comfortable from the moment we met him and we learned so much! Highly recommend. :)
