Yusuf is still here – in spirit. So is his father, Ismail I, and his son, Muhammed V. These three sultans were largely responsible for the Palacio Nazaríes – the 14th-century miracle that shines as the Alhambra’s jewel. To amble through these chambers and corridors is to step into Al-Andalus, to feel the energy of a civilization that held such a significant portion of Europe in its grip for eight centuries. Its matters of state still whisper in the Mexuar – a meeting place for ministers, all floral tiles and tapering columns, whose later conversion into a chapel could not conceal its Moorish origins. Its afternoons at play still haunt the Patio de los Leones – an intricate courtyard, the core of royal life under Muhammed V, where fountains splash. And its sophistication still flickers around the Palacio de Comares.

This was the most fantastic tour I’ve ever had! Very personable driver who spoke fluent English was waiting for me at cruise terminal and whisked me away to Alhambra where I met my guide who was fluent in Arabic as well as English, and very knowledgeable in Islamic culture and history, which enabled him to provide detailed explanations of the Alhambra’s unique design, artwork and symbolism throughout the palaces. Tour time also allowed me to explore Granada’s old town before being returned to ship. I highly recommend.

Our guide Alejandra was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and professional. It is also true that we were very lucky as there were only two of us and we could ask all the questions we wanted. The tour was totally adapted to our wishes. The three hours were more than enough to enjoy the gardens and palaces. We had plenty of time to take photos and contemplate the views and architecture while receiving a fabulous history lesson. Thank you Alejandra for a lovely experience.

Our Guida Eduardo was fatastic. Very knowledgeable and passionate which really made it a fantastic experience.

Sergio was wonderful guide to explain and answer all questions. We enjoyed the tour a lot.

A French guide for us 4. TOP! I loved the visit. I recommend.
