Overall had a really enjoyable visit. Was disappointed that we couldn’t visit the room where Churchill was born. Make sure you keep your tickets handy as they check them frequently , even in the grounds. Lots of measures were taken to keep people safe. Have to wear masks at all times whilst in the building and that includes staff. Plenty of hand gel areas. No need to wear masks outside and the grounds are so vast , that you could always keep your distance. It is well worth a visit.
Our guide, Peter, was very informative about the Palace and its history and manged the tour in a very professional manner. In particular, the transport and ticketing arrangements were well organised. He has a very sociable manner and readily responded to questions relating to the Palace and to other aspects of Oxford and its history.
Very enjoyable visit. Learnt a lot going round the palace, but would like to have been allowed to see more. Disappointed in cafe arrangement. Social spacing went to pot ! Also need more tables. Landscaping fantastic. Will return just to walk the grounds.
Very enjoyable tour round palace, well organised, especially in the present climate. Staff very welcoming and knowledgable. Thought the virtual reality look into the past was really good. Also enjoyed walking round the lake.
Unfortunately the formal gardens were not open as Tour Privee was on. There was no mention of this on the web site and it was disappointing not to see the beautiful gardens that are an important feature of the palace .
