Get a closer look at the details of each boat and see artifacts that were discovered inside, along with the skeletons of those laid to rest when the vessels served as mausoleums. Go on a journey of adventure and follow a Viking ship on its travels as you watch a new film, screened at regular intervals on the walls and roof of one of the museum's wings.  Use your same entrance ticket to enter the Historical Museum, and learn more about the Vikings, Norwegian culture and Norway's place in the history of the world.

Viking Museum Oslo

Took a 10 minute ferry from the pier in Oslo costing about 75k return . Cute little covered boat .On disembarking there are no visible sign posts to the museums . We followed a group of people on a ten minute walk up a slight hilly road ,situated in a lovely neighbourhood on the pretty peninsula . Viking museum was well laid out minimalistic style with a short film shown every 15 minutes .Did what it said on the tin and good value for £9 each. One hour is more than enough and there are only a couple of large rooms ,with small viewing galleries . Well organised and well staffed . Nice souvenir shop .Check on ferry times back to Oslo as from the Autumn they are not as frequent .

I booked the Viking Museum and didn't know there was the Historical Museum with Vikings and a seperate Viking Museum. Staff were great and gave the silly Scotsman a guide on how to get to the other place. We just did the historic museum since we were there and it was good

Viking Museum delivers Viking story brilliantly!

As we wandered this museum, we had a sense of wonder at what the Vikings accomplished in their time. The careful re-construction of these magnificent Viking sailing vessels - the size and workmanship of these men and women - all tell the story of the scope of what the Vikings influence on the known world. My favorite experience was viewing the media presentation showing what the Vikings did and their lives in the known world of their time. It conveyed who the Vikings were and what they did. The presentation left a lasting impression.
