Munich: Spooky Tour of Old Town in German

4. Munich: Spooky Tour of Old Town in German

Munich does not only offer vibrant life full of light and atmosphere, but also a different, darker side. On this city tour, you explore the uncanny places of the northern Old Town, between the posh Kreuzviertel district with its Promenade Square and the aristocratic Graggenau district with the world famous Wittelsbacher residence. The tour starts at the Frauenkirche, where you meet the devil himself right in the beginning. Learn how he, trying to impede the building of the cathedral, duped himself and left the infamous devil's footprint. But that's not all: Hear about a spooky encounter with a ghost wearing a pointed cap on the cemetery, a cold-hearted scrooge on the Promenade Square and the fat ghost of the gate Maxtor. Probably the most eerie spot of the tour is the tower Jungfernturm, where atrocious screams from those tortured to death were supposedly overheard. Look out for the spooky spots in the city center, meet devils, demons, heretics and the doomed and find places, at which horrifying crimes took place and where alleged witches sighed out their soul. Whether you are a long-established inhabitant of Munich or a newcomer, a tourist on a short visit or staying in the city for longer, young or old – this tour offers something to everyone. I had a great experience with my guide. She was very knowledgeable and really nice and helpful. The tour itself was extremely interesting and I got to see all the main historical spots around the city center. The walking is very manageable even for the two hours as everything is quite close to each other. I felt like I learned loads about the history of the city. I've done many of these tours and this is definitely one of the better ones. Highly recommend!

Eine wirklich schöne Erfahrung! Man konnte sich keine besser Tour Guide als die Franzie, die die historisch interessante und doch gruselige Tour mit äußert lustigen bayrischen Humor leitetet, wünschen.

Very interesting tour. Not too seriously historic but nice and light.

A great way to discover the Old Town…strongly recommended

Although it was a freezing, snowy day, it was worth it!
