Kataragama Temple - dedicated to God Kataragama, who has a link to the Ramayana legend. Lord Indra has been given orders to God Skandha to join the battle at the last day of the war to protect Lord Rama from the powerful wrath of king Ravana. According to the Ramayana Legend, Ussangoda is the place where King Rawana’s airport was constructed and his big peacock shaped air craft landed. Continue your drive to Rumassala. The legendary chronicle ‘Ramayana’ proclaims that ‘Rumassala’ is a chunk of Himalayan Mountains in India that was brought by Hanuman to find medicine for Lakshman when he was injured in the battle with Ravana.
