Lille Driving Tour by Convertible Citroen 2CV

1. Lille Driving Tour by Convertible Citroen 2CV

Take a retro guided tour of the beautiful city of Lille on board an iconic Citroen 2CV, as idiosyncratically French as a beret or baguette. Tours can vary from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, with room for up to 3 passengers. Riding in the famous car, feel the vroom-vroom of its tiny engine (2CV literally means "2 tax horsepower")! Lean over at every bend in the road and enjoy the vintage upholstery. If the weather’s right, you’ll tackle the cobbled streets with the roof rolled back and the wind in your hair. Your driver-guide will tell anecdotes about the city at every nook and cranny en route, and they'll advise you on the best places to go when you’ve regained your street legs! Lille is an ideal city to tour in a 2CV; the streets are narrow, and though the cobbles might shake and rattle your bones a bit, you'll feel every part a native.

Lille: 2-Hour Segway Tour

2. Lille: 2-Hour Segway Tour

Choose to start your 2-hour Segway tour of Lille by getting picked up from your accommodation or meeting your guide at the starting point. Wander along the walls of the well-preserved Citadelle and get acquainted with 17th-century military architecture. Then, head to the heart of the Old Town and soak in the elegant atmosphere of "le Vieux-Lille" in front of the neo-Gothic Notre-Dame de la Treille. From there, wander on to reach the oldest monument in Lille: the Hospice Comtesse. Originally used as a hospital, the Hospice Comtesse today hosts a historical museum that immerses you in the lifestyle and historical events of previous centuries. Next, ride along the Rue de Gand, taking time to appreciate its collection of typical "estaminets" (combination cafe-pub-restaurants). Leap back into the 21st century with a stop in Euralille, the modern commercial center that shows how the capital city of Flanders has changed with the times. Finally, arrive at La Place du Théâtre and La Grand Place to check out the Opera and the famous Vieille Bourse, the old stock exchange that stands today as one of the city's most important monuments.

From Paris: Battle of Arras & Vimy Ridge Day Tour by Minibus

3. From Paris: Battle of Arras & Vimy Ridge Day Tour by Minibus

Join a small group for a thought provoking day of remembrance. Discover the many cemeteries, memorials and traces of battles from the First World War along the path of the Western Front. Stop off for a exploration of The Artois where the gently rolling landscape is full of reminders of the bloody battles fought there. Visit a site of major significance to Canadians, The Canadian National Commemorative Park at Vimy. Here, see many scars on the land such as trenches, mine craters, and ridge tunnels which were used to shelter Allied troops as they came under fire from German artillery. The strategic value of Vimy Ridge and its famous network of tunnels made it a strategic possession, and the German occupation of Vimy Ridge was a major threat to any advance in the Somme region. The British- and Canadian-led battle took possession back during April 1917. Also enjoy free time in the beautiful historical town of Arras. As the day progresses major sites such as the Cabaret Rouge Cemetery in Souchez will be revealed, all reminders of those other soldiers, from Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, and other countries who also contributed and fought to give us the peace we enjoy today. This tour will give you the opportunity to honor all those who gave up their lives.

What people are saying about Nord-Pas-de-Calais

Absolutely fantastic, from booking and arranging the time and pick up from our hotel to the tour itself! The two drivers who took our party of 6 (and our luggage after finding out our hotel was closing for the afternoon hours before we were due to leave for the tour) on an hours tour of the city, pointing out historical buildings of interest that lead to interesting conversation topics throughout the journey.

My guide Archi was fabulous! The tour in the Citron was intimate, educational and enlightening. My wife and I are moving Lille and the tour really helped me to more easily grasp the lay of the land and begin to understand and appreciate the prideful people and the different culture of Northern France.

The tour guide was so incredibly helpful and accommodating (I believe his name was Julien; I hope I am spelling that correctly). He really went above and beyond to make sure that our tour experience was phenomenal!

Julian was excellent, very informative, able to bring both WW 1 and WW 2 to life so that you could understand what the French, Allies and Germans went through.

Frank is very easy person to communicate. We love every minute of the tour.
