New Orleans: 2-Hour City Sightseeing Bus Tour

1. New Orleans: 2-Hour City Sightseeing Bus Tour

Journey through 3 centuries of history, legend, and romance as you experience New Orleans, “the city that care forgot.” This is an exclusive 2.25-hour guided tour led by a professional guide. Marvel at stories of voodoo and piracy on Bayou St. John. These are waters that were used by Jean Lafitte and his notorious band of pirates. Travel through historic neighborhoods such as Treme and Faubourg Marigny. Visit one of New Orleans' historic cemeteries and learn about the unique above-ground burial system. Afterward, follow the path of the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, the oldest continuously operating passenger railway system in the world (until the service was disrupted by Hurricane Katrina). Travel to the world-famous Garden District, where you will see the homes of former Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras. View Tulane and Loyola Universities across from Audubon Park, home to one of the top 5 zoos in the nation, The Audubon Zoo.  Stop in New Orleans City Park for a relaxing stroll and the opportunity to visit the Besthoff Sculpture Garden.

New Orleans: Garden District Tour with Elms Mansion Access

2. New Orleans: Garden District Tour with Elms Mansion Access

Immerse yourself in the opulence of the Old South in this tour of New Orleans’ prettiest neighborhood with an expert local guide. Start your day on the sweetest of notes at a historic praline-makers shop, sample the confectionary treat as it comes straight out of the copper pot - a sweet introduction to southern culture. Stroll over to a nearby streetcar - a beloved icon of New Orleans life and roll your way down famed St. Charles Avenue as more and more stately mansions start to appear until you are right in the midst of the Garden District. Wander through the streets, as harmless insects buzz about, ferns sway on porches, and these southern belles lounge about. Stop by famed homes, as your guide not only shares the stories of their former and famed owners - but points out the particular articles of interest within their architecture. Passing through, peek into one of America’s most historic graveyards - Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 with its famous family plots and gray stone mausoleums. Here your guide will share some intriguing stories on the practical difficulties of building and maintaining a cemetery below sea level. As you return to the wide avenue of St. Charles, end your tour in front of the Elms Mansion, one of the best-preserved old Southern mansions in America. Reflect on the beautiful, often troubled history of New Orleans and celebrate the preservation to keep this special corner of the world intact.

New Orleans: Traditional City and Estate Tour

3. New Orleans: Traditional City and Estate Tour

New Orleans has an incredibly vibrant soul that can never be kept down. Today, you will experience its heart with a combo city tour that will take you deep into the splendor of the French Quarter, and then out towards the levee system along Lake Pontchartrain before heading back through the mansions around town. It is sure to be a delight! We first stop by the French Market, for a taste of New Orleans' rich culinary history. We'll then head out to the old U.S. Mint and the stately mansions along Esplanade Ave. Here you can dream of what life must have been like 100 years ago, and see the vibrancy that still remains. Next we'll walk into St. Louis Cemetery #3. One of the fascinating things about a New Orleans cemetery is that everything is above ground, since the city technically lies below sea level. For this reason, St. Louis is a fascinating journey into the quirks about this city, and you will see some famous residents as well. Riding along peaceful Bayou St. John, we view houses from the late 1700's. Driving through City Park, see the antique carousel and centuries-old live oaks. Stop to explore the Besthoff Sculpture Gardens at City Park. This exquisite 8 acre park is definitely worth the time. Stroll along meandering walking paths and water features amid centuries-old, moss-draped live oaks surrounding two lagoons. Along Lake Pontchartrain's shores our levee system is explained and the longest of all Causeway bridges is seen. Then we'll head uptown to Carrolton, the Tulane and Loyola Universities, the 160-year-old streetcar line and St. Charles Avenue's grand colonial mansions. Finally, we'll head back downtown around the Superdome and through the heart of the business district before returning to your hotel. You will see how vibrant and exciting New Orleans is again today, and we look forward to sharing our home with you.

Book early! Take the first tour of the day! If possible. Kids are fresh and fed.. I had 3 little girls, a 16 year old 6 ft grandson , my adult daughter the tour guide was fun, well informed, she even made it so interesting for children to understand . Told us even about Christmas traditions as she grew up .. It just made it so personal and interesting to all of of us.. she explained Katrina Hurricane and what it did to the 9th Ward and City, Cemeteries and burials. history about the Spanish and French. Take little bottles of water. we did this trip on 12/29/22. We were excited because we were there for the Sugar Bowl .. We were all dressed in Purple for K-State University .. had no problem keep a eye on the children.. This tour is the Best, Clean, Restful way to see this city… Everyone with the Tour was Great!!!!

This tour is a must for first time visitors, the route takes you through many districts and if you are lucky enough to have Trenise is your driver expertly driven around, you will have an even bigger treat if Jim (with one M - inside joke) is your guide, he was the best, very knowledgeable, funny and captivating, I found myself repeating some of the information he gave during the tour the next day to my husband as we walked or drove around the city. Thank you for a great experience!

The tour was absolutely fantastic! Our guide Jim was so incredibly knowledgable. I can’t say enough about him. We stopped at a cemetery and just loved the knowledge behind it. Book this tour with Jim! You will not be disappointed.
