Angkor Region: 3-day Private Tour of Top Temples

1. Angkor Region: 3-day Private Tour of Top Temples

Day One:  Get picked up from your accommodation at 8:00 am by your driver and tour guide and travel directly to Beng Mealea, a sprawling jungle temple that covers over one square kilometer. Enjoy the adventurous and mysterious feeling of exploring a temple complex largely overrun by vegetation and off the beaten tourist path. Discuss your lunch preferences with your guide before stopping at a local restaurant. Afterwards, head to the floating village Kampong Phluk on Tonle Sap Lake, the largest lake in Southeast Asia. Enjoy a guided boat trip through the floating village. Then get dropped off back at your accommodation. Day Two:  Get picked up again at 8:00 am and purchase a 3-day temple pass before heading to the ancient city of Angkor Thom. Visit some small temples, including Chau Say Tevoda, Thommanon, and Ta Keo. Then head to the jungle temple Ta Prohm where the movie Tomb Raider was shot. Refuel afterwards with lunch at a local restaurant. Then make your way to the Buddhist temple of Banteay Kdei. Gain insight into the history of the powerful Khmer Empire before heading to Phnom Bakheng to see a gorgeous sunset. Day Three:  Get an early start at 5:00 am on the final day of the tour. Get picked up and see the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Following this, you can choose to visit more temples including Pre Rup and Banteay Samre. Then head to Banteay Srey, arriving before most of the crowds. Marvel at the most intricately carved temple in all of Angkor. Afterwards, see a traditional Khmer village and learn about palm sugar production. If you are interested, visit the Landmine Museum and learn how decades of conflict, foreign occupation, and brutal civil war and genocide have impacted Cambodia.  Afterwards, stop for lunch at a local restaurant. On the way back, stop at a few more temples such as East Mebon, Ta Som, Neak Pean, and Preah Khan, a fascinating vast monastic complex. The return trip will take you through many beautiful villages and provide you with great photo opportunities. Get dropped off back at your accommodation at the end of your day.

What people are saying about Neak Pean

Our tour guide's name was Vuthy, a young, energytic and enthusiastic tour guide. We were very pleased to have him on the tour for the first three days in Siem Reap. Without him, we couldn't have had so much knowledge and valuable memories of Angkor City. Definitely highly recommended. 1. He was very patient, structured and very clear in introducing and explaining the history of Siem Reap. 2. We liked the way how he told histories of one temple and associated to the other temples, so tourists can remember which historic monument came first and why. I'd say, it was a fun history class out in the nature :) 3. He took us to the most, untouristic, yet beautiful foto spots to take pictures of us. 4. Gave us restaurants and food recommendations but did not put pressure on hard-sale. 5. My husband felt a bit sick on the third day. Vuthy and driver were flexible enough and took us back the hotel and changed the schedule to the afternoon instead early morning+midday schedule.

Guide Mr Sa and driver Mr Ya took us on an amazing three-day trip, exploring the temples of the Angkor region, including a guided boat tour of the stilt houses and floating village on Tonle Sap Lake. Mr Sa is very knowledgeable and provides a lot of background information about Cambodia and everyday life here. He is an experienced guide who not only describes the temples, but also dives into the Hindu mythology depicted, helping you to understand what exactly you are seeing. Mr Sa is flexible in adapting the tour to your interests and preferences, and he is a gifted photographer (thanks for the lovely pictures!) who knows all the best picture spots. Transport was by SUV: very comfortable (the airco was a nice break from the heat). Mr Ya is a safe driver and provided cold water for us during the trip. We definitely recommend this trip!

I just spent 3 amazing, adventurous and exciting days enjoying this private tour with my tour guide Mr. Sa and my driver Mr. Ya. The tour is absolutely satisfactory and includes a large number of extraordinary temples in the Siem Reap area, as well as a boat ride along the floating village. Mr. Sa was extremely nice, kind, helpful, punctual and provided a lot of interesting information. I highly recommend this tour that helped me appreciate the unique beauties and the history of the Khmer civilization.

Sa was a great guide who was able to share lots of insights about the temples. His knowledge of Buddhist and Hindu mythology and Khmer stories was excellent. He understood all of the histories so well and could explain it in an approachable way in English to our family. He was also just a lovely polite and courteous guide. Recommend! Our family had a wonderful experience at Siem reap!

my Guide Lala and the driver were super friendly and he told me so much about all the things to know and the backgrounds of the temples. we've been visiting 14 temples in total during the three days.
