Private tour covering a wonderful variety of temples and sites

About 12 hours before the tour, my partner and I managed to book it so very last minute. We were picked up punctually from our hotel by our guide (and driver) and were delighted to find that there weren't any other people on our tour so we had a 2 full days on our own with the guide, Say. We did this tour in April which was EXTREMELY hot and I would recommend choosing a different month to do the tour if possible. That said, we were provided with cold water throughout the day by the guide. This 2 day tour was amazing in terms of the number of temples we managed to see. Each had their own charm and differences. The lunches provided were very good. 2 or 3 days is what I would recommend. 1 day and you just scratch the surface. We did the sunrise view at Angkor Wat which was nice but not essential. There are so many people there at that time. We actually watched the sunrise from the water across from the temple. We had a great experience on this tour so highly recommend it.

Excellent value for money - high flexibility to organise the day

We booked a 2 day tour in Angkor as part of our family trip with 3 children (8, 10, 13). In order not to rush through the area in 1 day, we opted for a private 2 day tour to have the flexibility to stay longer where we liked things and to cut short visits of temples that we appreciated less. The tour guide and the driver were very flexible in terms of the organisation of the day. On the first day, we spent the morning touring through the temples and headed back to Siem Reap and the hotel after the lunch to cool off at the pool. We re-started at 4pm until sunset . On day 2, I paid the premium for the sunrise option at Angkor Wat, that was - despite a lot of people doing the same - worth the time and effort. Seeing Ankor Wat at dawn is magical. After having breakfast at the hotel and picking up the rest of the family, we went for the visit of Angkor Wat and some temples further out and returned early afternoon to the hotel. We appreciated the service of our guide (Sam).

Overall really good but a few minor problems

All reviews talked about how great the guides English was but our was only ok. We heard others with much better English. On the first day the guide Thet, and driver took us 13 km to an overpriced restaurant with no other choices when we would have been much happier at stands or restaurants near the temples. The second day was great and for our last temple, we went to one that had not been renovated which was really interesting As a bonus, there was a gibbon family out playing so we got lots of pics (it was overcast but not raining, so cooler)

great tour, exceeded my expectations, value for money

good guide company (BAYON guides) prompt email reply's prior to the tour. we got a great tour guide who was very kind and knowledgeable about the various temples in the Angkor area. we seemed to visit the right temples at the right time (e.g. before rain, before crowds). this was probably due to our great guide and luck. got everything that was stated in the description also. food was great at the 2 lunches and dinner. I definitely learnt a lot about the history of the temples.

A very effective way to see these treasures!

Don't go to these sites by yourselves. Don't go with a large group. Go with a personal guide who can explain what you are seeing because there is so much to see and learn, that to experience this area any other way minimizes the impact. This three-day program was just about more than this 66-year-old woman could navigate, but I wouldn't have missed anything!
