Napier: Wine, Gin, & Craft Beer Tour with Included Tastings

1. Napier: Wine, Gin, & Craft Beer Tour with Included Tastings

Each winery will offer between 4 and 7 wines for a tasting split between reds and whites.  Chardonnay is the dominant white wine variety produced in Hawkes Bay, but lovers of Sauvignon Blanc should not worry, as you'll also be tasting that at Mission Estate. Shiraz and Bordeaux blends are some of the dominant red varieties. The first estate winery you'll visit is Mission Estate, which was established in 1851. The tasting hall and associated restaurant are located in a two-story Victorian mansion that offers magnificent views over the vineyards. The next stop is the Urban Winery, located in the National Tobacco building, which is famous for its Art Nouveau architecture. This stop is optional if you wish to enjoy three craft beers of your choosing. Next door is the National Gin Distillery, where you'll get to taste five gins. Then, take a 15-minute drive past the orchards and vineyards of Esk Valley, arriving at Linden Estate. Linden produces only 60,000 bottles of wine split between 13 different varietals. This will be a seated tasting with a complimentary cheese board of New Zealand cheeses. Afterward, travel back to Napier for drop-off in the early evening.

Napier: Gourmet Lunch and Wine Tour

2. Napier: Gourmet Lunch and Wine Tour

Mission Estate is one of New Zealand's largest wineries, producing 3,600,000 bottles of wine. You will be offered at least 3 red and 3 white wines throughout this experience, with chardonnay being the leading white wine and Merlot and associate Bordeaux blends the leading reds. The Mission restaurant has a wonderful reputation, and the setting is world class. Your luncheon will be a platter made up of cold meats, cheese, bread, fruit, and a small selection of hot seafood. You will be offered a tasting of 3 local craft beers or 4 local wines at the Urban Winery. You will then drive out to the picturesque Esk Valley for the final tasting at Linden Estate. Linden Estate is a boutique winery producing about 60,000 bottles of wine. Linden often has up to 10 wines to taste at once, and this experience offers tour participants great insight into the wines this region can produce. Your tour concludes with a drive out into the vineyard of a private quiet location where you will be provided with a selection of New Zealand cheese and biscuits accompanied by a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. What people are saying about Napier

Picked up bang on time, Ross was very friendly and knowledgeable. We visited 3 vineyards, Mission, Brookfields & Linden. Apparently there was an option to have lunch first at Mission, but I didn’t see that to book it, it looked well worth doing. Really liked the Malbec at Mission, and the Chardonnay at Brookfield’s was the best I’d ever tasted and it’s not normally a wine I like. They also had a very nice cabernet merlot. The owner of Brookfield’s was very funny and delightful, she was rushed off her feet, but still managed to make it very enjoyable. As it was a bank holiday we didn’t get to do the gin tasting, so missed out on that sadly.

A beautiful bike ride! It was very hot the day we went so we were glad we wore more athletic clothing because we definitely sweat. We earned our wine! The company was wonderful. Tony took care of us, he picked us up at our Airbnb and communicated clearly how to get to each of the wineries and when they would pick us up. It was a highlight of our trip I definitely recommend this company!

Highly recommended! Ross was amazing such a great day even exploring our own backyard in a different way! Thank you for your hospitality and a fantastic day

Outstanding guide. Shuttles and bikes in great condition. Fantastic introduction to Hawkes Bay wines and country.
