Full description
Experience the best travel stories for yourself! Join a local expert and uncover hidden gems on this Lonely Planet Experience. Nothing defines the Masai so perfectly as the intricate and ornate jewelry that symbolizes their cultural heritage. This full-day Nairboi tour is held in the Masai homelands around Ngong Hills, and captures the spirit and essence of Masai life. This Nairobi tour is run in partnership with One Horizon Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty in Kenya and South Africa that holds no religious or political affiliations. Tours are managed by a dedicated Kenyan staffing team who all have a background in travel and tourism, and have joined the team because of their commitment to helping their fellow citizens. Your Nairobi tour will be led by two Masai tribeswomen and sisters who learned the skills of Masai jewelry-making from their grandmother. Sitting under cool acacia trees in the stunning countryside, you will make your own Masai wristband under their guidance, using the color codes observed by the Masai. Best of all, you’ll get to keep your handmade jewelry as your own memento of the day. If you like, you can also take part in traditional Masai singing and dancing, which will be experienced as part of your day.

Amazing experience!

Everyone involved was amazing and helpful from the first moment. I've got enough information about the tour in advance through e-mail what made me feel safe. The guide was kind, helpful and with a good command of English, speaking with Him was pleasant. The Masaai hosts were kind and open! This experience will remain with me through my life.

It was one of my best day in nairobi!!!! I was told something about a partnership with One Horizon. It is indeed a good way to help the community. Aside from that i haveSolomon as my guide and translator. He is amazing! Explaining to me how things and the trip will work. So i don't have funny surprise after that. It is actually a good way to learn another culture; the Maasai in a short trip. Water and snacks provided is also a way to go!! Thanks so much for the fun day and pictures being sent!!!
