The ticket booth is easy to find, the attendant only knows about the boats, nothing about Delos or its facilities. If there are cruise ships in port, get there at least 30 mins prior to your departure time to exchange your voucher, the crowds could be maddening. The transfer boats are a bit of a McHale's Navy, but they get the job done. For the visit itself, Delos is amazing. Sensible shoes, water and a hat are absolutely essential; there is no natural shade and depending on the route you take, hills are almost a certainty, some not for the faint of heart. Get a copy of the "Tour of the Archaeological Site of Delos" (free) from the museum in Mykonos before you go, it is invaluable for explaining all that you see while in Delos.

Buying a ticket at the counter is uncomplicated and easy. The ship left on time, the journey pleasant. crew friendly. Only on the island you have to be aware that there is nothing to drink. No shop, nothing. Be sure to buy water on the ship. 50 cents for 1/2 liter. The return trip also went smoothly.

The local guide was passionate about the island and would also be funny time to time aside from being very informative. Check-in at the booth by the port at least 20 mins earlier from tour start time. Try to experience the upper and open deck of the boat, you may get very wet so wear a wet weather coat.
