Montserrat Monastery: Guided Tour with Early Access

1. Montserrat Monastery: Guided Tour with Early Access

Upon arrival at the monastery, northwest of the city, learn about the lives of the monks in the monastery and sacred mountain. Visit the Museu de Montserrat and see a collection of artifacts that range from Egyptian mummies to canvasses by Picasso. Although much of the collection was lost in the Napoleonic War, the museum continued to add to its collection and the museum is now home to important works of 20th-century Catalan art. See archaeological finds from Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt and Palestine. Admire old paintings from the 13th to 18th centuries by artists such as Morales, El Greco, and Caravaggio. Fall in love with the Renaissance architecture of the 16th-century basilica. Go to the atrium and sacristy, and see the permanent collection of images of the Virgin Mary. If you book the option that includes entrance to the Monastery you will enjoy a liquor tasting.

The 6:45 Tour to Montserrat Monastery is amazing. It is worth waking up early in the morning to be there before other groups arrive. Our guide was so wonderful, she explained many important details of the Monastery, she has also a sense of humor and very helpful. We left on time and arrived at the Monastery while the sun is rising and no other group was there yet. My husband and I was able to walk all the way to the Cross on top of the hill, visit the black Madona saw the interior of the church, the view when you get to the top was beautiful, the mountain itself was just incredible. If you are spiritual and Love nature as well, this is so perfect. The only drawback is the time, it is short to do finicular, audiovisual, listen to Boys choir and have coffee... over all it is BEAUTIFUL...

Our trip was easy and very enjoyable!! Our guide Gabby was perfect - she knew so much about the area and was also so kind when watching out for the safety and well-being of her clients. My mother left her phone in the chapel and Gabby worked on our behalf to track it down. She spoke on the bus (both ways) to us about the history of Barcelona and Montserrat. It was a wonderful day trip. ⭐️

It was exactly the right decision that day to go with "our" guide to Montserrat Monastery early in the morning. We started in the dark at Plaza Catalunya, drove north to the monastery, uphill through low clouds to the mountain, which was then above the clouds in the brightest sunshine.

Very nice place, there is a lot to see and the views are very picturesque. Morning trip, very good time, few people.

I liked how the tour wasn’t dragged on and we got free time to explore.
