  • Tak a tailored round-track hike around Etna
  • Visit the Etna hot craters
  • View Valle del Bove, a huge depression covering the whole eastern flank of Etna
Full description
During this Etna hike, you will visit the most devastating eruption sites which occurred along the years of 2001, 2002/2003. You will also visit a lava channel, a natural conduit formed by flowing lava which moves beneath the hardened surface of a lava flow. Afterwards, visit the great caldera "Valle del Bove" (theater of recent eruptions), which provides a beautiful panorama over the Mediterranean Sea, from Taormina to Catania. At 3,000 meters altitude, you will prize being able to approach the several active craters of the summit, complete with their high plumes of smoke. This is an exclusive route tailored to stay away from the usual crowd of tourists. A picnic break is then planned along the way in the middle of the ash volcanic desert. You will be able to take a break and enjoy a lunch composed of traditional Sicilian specialties. If time allows, the excursion will conclude with a free tasting of Etna's finest products, including honey, wine, liqueurs and much more at a local producer in Zafferana Etnea. This village of honey sits along the Etna Wine Route, which will lead you back to your accommodation where you will be dropped off as the tour concludes.

We had a simply wonderful day on Etna. Our guide Roberto was absolutely amazing. He made the experience so memorable with his knowledge of the volcano. We saw much more and went much further than we would have thought possible. All possible because of the enthusiasm of our guide. Thoroughly recommended.
