  • Mother Temple of Bali and Lempuyang's Gates of Heaven Tour

    1. Mother Temple of Bali and Lempuyang's Gates of Heaven Tour

Following a pick-up from your hotel, you will head to the majestic Lempuyang Temple in the eastern part of Bali. Along the way, pass long stretches of beautiful and pristine rice paddies, travel along winding roads and marvel at breathtaking mountains. There is a reason why this temple is known as the Gateway to Heaven. Be awed by the magical views of Mount Agung behind the temple. Your own private guide will not only snap cool shots for you but also will also explain the history of the ancient temple as well as the Balinese people and their culture. You will then visit Tirta Gangga, which is well known as the most beautiful former royal water palace in Eastern Bali. The water palace features tiered fountains, gardens, and stone sculptures of mythical creatures spouting water into bathing pools. Just outside the palace grounds, the views of the lush rice paddies of northeastern Bali are...

The Lempuyang's Gates were stunning and fortunately for me the wait for a picture was very short due to there not being many tourists, I can imagine that the queue can be staggering at times and the wait a long one but there are shaded area to wait in

  • Bali: Alternative Temples Small Group Tour

    2. Bali: Alternative Temples Small Group Tour

Not keen on the swarming crowds at Bali's main temples? The intact justice court building formerly used by the high king of Bali will give you some idea of the power and grandeur of the Balinese monarchs before the Dutch arrived. Goa Lawah Temple is up next. Also known as Bat Cave, its complex is built over a hilly outcrop home to thousands of bats and a giant snake king per local legend. Make a stop at Bukit Jambul, known for its panoramic views of the rice terraces. As you must be peckish by now, your guide will slow the pace down for a lunch overlooking Mt. Agung.  Continue your tour to Besakih Temple, Bali's thousand-year-old Mother Temple, perched 1,000 meters high on the southwester...

The tour was well organized, informative and varied. Our guide was very friendly and accommodating and answered all our questions in detail and with passion. (Unfortunately I can't remember his name) We were lucky with a wait of over an hour for the photo shoot at the gate to heaven, which should be pointed out in the description that this can also take two hours and longer. The lunch was delicious. We were unable to visit the mother temple extensively due to heavy rain.
