I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Appleton Rum Estate in Jamaica with Claude as our driver. While he did not give the tour, he provided us with a safe and comfortable drive from Montego Bay to the estate. The drive itself was a scenic and enjoyable experience, as Claude pointed out various landmarks and shared interesting facts about Jamaica's history and culture. As we left Montego Bay, we passed through small towns and villages, and Claude pointed out the various types of crops being grown in the area. Upon arrival at the estate, we were greeted by our tour guide who took us on a tour of the facilities, including the distillery and aging rooms. We also had the opportunity to taste several different varieties of Appleton Rum and learn about the different flavors and aromas that are unique to each blend. If you ever get a chance to take this tour ask for Claude as he is the best and he made us feel so comfortable, when I return to Jamaica I will ask for Claude

Ran picked us up at the ship at the agreed time, everything worked out great, and discussed the tour with us. He first drove us to Negril Beach to a nice spot, although there was still an entrance fee of $10 p.p. Person to pay, but we had two nice loungers with umbrellas and didn't have to worry about anything. It's a great long stretch of white sand beach that's great for walking along. We were allowed to decide for ourselves how long we would stay there and then Ran drove us to Rick's Cafe, a cult cafe with cliff divers and even very tasty burgers. Here, too, we were able to decide when to continue. We could have stayed until sunset. But that was too short for us because we still needed 1 1/2 hours back to the ship and if something got stuck or went wrong. All in all a great tour and Ran fulfilled our every wish. He even drove to the Starbucks Café for us at the very beginning.

Very beautiful but the queue to enter is incredible, more organization is needed, there is an entry point only for groups which is always empty, those who enter with their own ticket have to stand in a huge queue. There are 2 queues, one to buy the ticket and one to enter .... so I skipped the ticket queue by doing it online where entrances to the gardens were included, otherwise paid because they are a separate thing from the palace according to them. So once at the gardens, convinced that I could enter, I had to stand in line again because my 8-year-old daughter enters the palace for free, while she has to pay €9 for the gardens. Among other things paid almost unnecessarily because the weather was all day alternating between scorching sun and 4 degrees hail ....

The rum tour itself was really interesting and informative. Our Driver (Mr. Claude) however, was the main highlight. He was on time, very courteous, made sure we had everything we needed and even took time to tell us about some of the areas on the way to and from the Appleton Estate. Will definitely recommend.

This really was the best day ever with a fantastic tour guide of Washington and our driver Mr Hubert. If this is your first time to Jamaica this trip is an absolute must, so much fun!
