Full description
Go on a journey into the sacred and the profane on a 2-hour musical tour through Milan. Enter both the Scala Opera House, and Milan Cathedral (Duomo), the 5th largest church in the world. First, enter La Scala to explore one of the most famous theaters in the world. Go inside the auditorium with seating for more than 2000 people and a stage that has hosted some of the world’s most recognized artists. See the theater from inside one of the exclusive boxes.  Learn more about the history of La Scala in its own museum, and see a vast collection of costumes, instruments, and other musical curiosities, as well as a gallery of busts and paintings portraying some of classical music's great artists, such as Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini. Stroll over to the glass-roof arcade of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, built in the late 19th-century and considered one of the first shopping malls in history. Enter the Gothic façade of the Duomo, and discover the true symbol of Milan. See the soaring vaults (some of the tallest in the world), and learn why this imposing building attracts more than 5 million visitors per year.

The guide on the La Scala section of the tour was outstanding. Her knowledge of the History of Art including disciplines of Music, Ballet and Art was superb. She in fact was a History of Art teacher and had completed extensive study in the Area. We highly recommend this section of the tour. The tour of the Duomo was o.k. A warning to fellow travelers to make sure you include The Last Supper tour when you purchase your tour ticket. I thought I had but unfortunately I was mistaken.

We had a really good time the only slight disappointment was the map with the dropped pin was some distance away to add to the confusion there was a large thunderstorm at this location so lots of people were gathered but they were sheltering from the rain ! But the office rang me and we sorted. If I have one observation I would take my own earphones and cable as the ones supplied were quite poor and crackly. In the church women were required to cover their shoulders and not wear very short skirts or shorts so we had to buy scarves, but I would definitely recommend.

The tour of La Scala and the guide were excellent. The guide for the Cathedral tour was bubbly and communicated well but seemed to be far more interested in promoting Milan over other wonderful places in Europe rather than telling us about the Cathedral - how it was built, styles of building within the Cathedral, exterior features etc. we received some interesting facts and stories but they were all a bit disconnected. Tour was ok but could easily have been do much better. We also had to wait around for group members to turn up and then they ended up not joining us because the women didn’t have cover for their shoulders and legs. This requirement should be pointed out in the information for the tour.
