St. Augustine: Self-Guided Medieval Torture Museum Tour

1. St. Augustine: Self-Guided Medieval Torture Museum Tour

Visit the Medieval Torture Museum (with Audio guide included) and get the Ghost Hunting Experience and Tiny Art Gallery Admission with this all inclusive package. You can enjoy all three activities at one visit. The Medieval Torture Collection reminds visitors of the horrific injustices inflicted by madmen and tyrants upon the most unfortunate living in the Middle Ages. Throughout 4,000 square-feet, terrifying yet historically accurate exhibits and life-like reenactments showcase over a hundred repulsive torture devices, practices, and weapons used in Medieval societies. The museum's six rooms each boasts its own creepy theme. For example, one room houses the pendulum, a horrifying device that involved a swinging blade that slowly dipped towards the prisoner's body, eventually tearing through their clothes and skin. Another room features the grisly practice of strapping a bucket of rats onto a captive's torso, the application of heat forcing the vermin to claw through the stomach and chest. Don't forget to feel the chilling Ghost Hunting Experience using Ghost Hunting app. After guests tour the museum, a tiny art exhibit provides some relief, featuring almost 30 ultra-tiny paintings and miniature sculptures visible only through microscopes.

This was such an awesome experience! And I appreciated the fact that the guy up front saw we had a 6 yr old with us and wanted to give me a preview tour and tell me that it may or may not be for him. But we allowed him to go with us so he could see what history really was like when you did something wrong. It was gruesome for sure, so we did skip one or two, but it's history so you can't deny it one way or the other. He soaked it in and it was actually his favorite. Idk whether to be scared or not lol, just kidding.

Really interesting and dark but fun! Person at front desk was awesome. Very pleasant. It was fun to touch some of the devices and nice descriptions of use/history! A few devices were repetitive. Worth the $14. Wish we would have known about the miniature museum within location. Could have saved money by purchasing tickets together.

The museum is exactly what you expect. We were not disappointed. It's really very scary and amazingly well done. If you like such things, you should definitely stop by. Also the prices are absolutely okay. We had a good creepy time. ;)

it was amazing and the staff was very polite and helpful.. They went above and beyond to help my family and me..

It was fascinating and the candles added the perfect touch...really captured the horror!
