Full description

Head out to San Sebastián de Palmitas, just 45 minutes from Medellín, to begin your unique coffee tour. After hotel pick-up, set off for a coffee-making farm and enjoy listening to a brief history about the origin of the coffee and how it was first brought to Colombia.

Take the chance to dress in the typical costume of the paisa muleteer, including hat, poncho, paruma, and the tail of a rooster. Later, move on to a coffee plantation to carry out the coffee harvest, reducing the mixture to a pulp and finally, drying it. After these activities, sit down for a refreshing drink of musilago (coffee juice) and a tea made from the coffee pulp. Savor a typical dish from the region made of banana with honey and cheese.

Hear your guide explain some techniques on how to prepare and drink coffee and have a short tasting of different coffees and servings. Later, try a typical dish of the paisa muleteer consisting of rice, yuca, ground beef, boiled egg, sausage, and banana.

Try preparing your coffee to your own taste with the information you have just learned from your guide. Finally, receive a pack of coffee as a gift and have the chance to buy farm products at the shop. If the option is chosen, also experience a 2-hour horseback ride through the farm to some viewpoints. All instructions will be given to inexperienced riders.

This tour was one the best tours I’ve ever taken! From the moment we got their from the transfer service, to our English speaking guide. They knew so much about the coffee farm, how to prepare it, how to drink it and make it taste so good! The horse back riding was also such a cool experience to be up in the mountains! I highly recommend this tour to anyone that is traveling through Medellin. I learned so much!

Location: nestled in the hills about 50 minutes outside of Medellin. It’s a small family owned Finca with a very tropical and friendly setting. The tour: Valentina was our tour guide, and I highly recommend taking the tour with her. She was highly informative and very charismatic and made the tour so much fun. I’m a coffee fan and learned a lot! The lunch is delicious as well, very traditional. The horseback riding: I highly recommend doing this as well when taking this tour. If you want a slow horse, ask for Negro. Slow horse and follows instruction very well.

It was literally the best experience ever. It is a must try for anyone traveler or just a local. The amount of information you receive is just amazing yet it is fun. Very hands on. And our guide was literally the sweetest and very welcoming. It felt like hanging out with a family member. Ana Maria ( our guide) is literally so sweet and attentive. The best part was the horseback riding at the end all around the farm it was so much fun.
