Full description
Meet your guide in the metro station to begin the tour and experience Medellín like a local. Learn all about the stations and key points in the city as well as how the metro system helped shape the new Medellin. When arriving at the connecting station, hop on a cable car up the hill. As you go, admire the panoramic views of the city and find out about its evolving history and troubled past. At the top, stop to sample local snacks and take a short ride on the bus toward the Comuna 13 district. At the Comuna 13, the real fun begins. An enthusiastic guide will explain all the positive changes made to transform what was once one of the most dangerous communities in South America into a symbol of the new Medellín. You will have time to take in all the amazing street art and ride the electric outdoor escalators to the top observation deck, which offers incredible views. Walter was a fantastic guide through this beautiful neighborhood. The only disappointing part (and this is true for all tours) are the "suggested" stops for souvenir shopping. Step away from those places and go to the not "sponsored" stops for souvenirs. The inclusion of snacks was a surprising treat. I'd suggest heading to Comuna later in the day if possible because it's packed with tourists in the morning. As the day went on the crowds lessened and it was more enjoyable.

Our guide Oscar was great! He explained all the Medellin history which was fascinating! Enjoyed cable car ride to San Antonio view point, enjoyed local snacks ( if you’re vegan there wasn’t any options but the Arepa’s and empanada’s looked amazing! ) Comuna 13 was vibrant & the story behind it made it that more special to see! A must do if visiting Medilion. You can do this by yourself but you will miss the local guides history and stories which make all the difference!

It a good long relaxed and very pleasant tour around Comuna 13, more complete than what local guides offer. The guide was really knowledgable with a great sense of humour. One thing to note, it is a public tour so we were just under 20 people. This means you don’t get much attention of the guide, but that’s understandable. We also run over by an hour and a half, so if you have other commitments in the second part of the day, let the guide know in the beginning of the tour.
