Full description

Enjoy a scenic tour of the wilder landscape of southwest Mauritius. Stop at the volcanic crater of Trou Aux Cerfs, where you can enjoy a panoramic view across almost the entire island.

Visit the ship model factory in Curepipe where their craftsmen are adept in the art of miniaturization and the techniques of replica work.

You will then head to the sacred lake of Grand Bassin, the most important place of worship for Mauritian Hindus and make a short drive to the Black River Gorges and stop at the Black River View Point, to see the island’s endemic flora and fauna.

Visit La Rhumerie de Chamarel to learn about the various stages involved in making the local rum, before tasting the end product! A delicious gourmet lunch will then be served in a local restaurant.

After lunch, the drive continues to Chamarel Village to admire the 90-meter high Chamarel Waterfall and curious 7-Coloured Earth, a natural phenomenon caused when basaltic lava converts the clay mineral into vibrant shades of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow.

Take a winding drive to the southwest corner of Mauritius, and enjoy the drive through Macondé Bridge for panoramic views across the Baie Du Cap River.

Nice fun tour. The information from the tour guide was very interesting and enlightening about the country. Pick up at the port was easy. The spots we visited were of different interest. We liked the visit to the rum distilleries and the seven-colored earths best. The volcanic crater was not worth seeing for us and the visit to the shipping museum is a pure tourist spot for the sale of cheap holiday souvenirs that nobody needs. Should it be taken off the program, then the tour would be perfect.

A great excursion that is definitely worth experiencing. Really worth the price. Chamarel Waterfall and the land of seven colors were the highlights. The turtles were in a fenced area, they could not be touched on this trip, but we knew about it in advance. All the arrangements went smoothly, in addition we had a small team of six and a guide and driver.

We really liked it, our guide Paul was very experienced and gave us a lot of information. Lunch was great. The deduction is for the last part, the day was beautiful and impressive. We were interested in the country and the history. The visit to the ship model building/shopping bazaar at the end we found absolutely superfluous. Better to stay longer at the sights.
