After lunch, the drive continues to Chamarel Village to admire the 90-meter high Chamarel Waterfall and the curious 7-Coloured Earth, a natural phenomenon caused when basaltic lava converts the clay mineral into vibrant shades of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow. Take a winding drive to the southwest corner of Mauritius, and enjoy the drive through Macondé Bridge for panoramic views across the Baie Du Cap River.

Spend the first part of the day exploring the capital city of Mauritius, Port Louis. Climb up to Fort Adelaide, known as 'The Citadel', a 19th-century military fortress which features a walled courtyard and panoramic city views. Then head into the central market, the Grand Port Louise Bazaar & China Town for a stroll around. Marvel at the impressive array of clothing, local vegetables, and exotic spices. Continue your shopping excursion at the splendid Caudan Waterfront. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the beautiful gardens at the Grapefruit Botanical Paradise. Then continue along the northwest coast via the Tamil Temple, Choisy Beach, and Grand Baie. Make a stop at Cap Malheureux, a village located in the Rivière du Rempart District to see The Palatial Red Church, a Roman Catholic Church famous for its vivid red roof against the bright turquoise sea and azure sky. Opt to pop into L'Aventure Du Sucre or the Sugar Factory Museum, where you can discover the history of sugar production in Mauritius and taste local products. Or perhaps make a stop at the majestic Chateau de Labourdonnais, one of the most beautiful colonial houses of the island inspired by Italian neo-classical architecture. Your busy full-day tour begins with a visit to Port Louis, the capital city. Enjoy magnificent views over the town and its harbor from the old citadel, Fort Adelaide. Discover the busy city center on a walk that starts at the Saint Louis Cathedral and continues to the noisy and hectic central market. Along the way you’ll see the Supreme Court, the Municipal Theater, Poncini, the Parliament, Place d’Armes, and Government House. The central market is a lively place, with its shouting merchants and intriguing array of colorful tropical fruits and vegetables. You’ll find a variety of craft items here also. Just a short walk away is the Caudan Waterfront, a modern and elegant shopping center. Next, you’ll head to a private home to enjoy an authentic Mauritian lunch of Creole delicacies. After lunch you’ll drive through Moka, Saint Pierre, Nouvelle Decouverte, Les Mariannes, and Long Mountain on your way to the magnificent Pamplemousses Botanical Garden. This site is noted for the variety as well as the rarity of its species. Take a leisurely walk along the shady, well-kept avenues and enjoy the beauty of the garden.
