    3. Maui: Lahaina Old Town Self-Guided Audio Tour

This tour explores the many highlights of the culturally and historically rich Lahaina, Hawaii. On this tour, visit, Baldwin Home Museum, Hauola Stone, Pioneer Inn, Old Lahaina Courthouse, Old Fort, Banyan Tree Court, the Old Prison, Waine’E Church, Shingon Buddhist Temple, Luakini Street, and the Lahaina Restoration Fountain. Each stop clearly exemplifies the amazing history of Lahaina, telling the story of the past of each stop. The Lahaina Restoration Foundation has done a wonderful job of keeping the history of the town of Lahaina present so that nothing is forgotten. From the old Fort to the Courthouse, the history of the town is preserved through many old buildings that are open to the public to explore and learn from. In addition, the town is full of amazing culture, especially in Banyan Tree Court, where people gather and socialize by the amazing historical landmark of the Banya...

We ended up not finishing this tour because it was at least 95 degrees out and way too hot to continue. We did enjoy checking out the old prison, although it closed before we got there and could only walk around the grounds. The banyan tree was incredible, and it was cool to learn about how they grow. I appreciated the directions at the end of each track, although there was typically a faster way to get to each place if you look at the map. Pay attention to surroundings, and go early to avoid the heat. Get advanced tickets to the first stop if you want to go inside. Parking was fairly easy in one of the paid lots. Be sure to also check out the art in the shop next to the first stop.
