Full description
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Marrakesh, exploring the medieval streets and enchanting gardens and palaces of Marrakesh. Marrakesh is possibly the most important of Morocco's four former imperial cities (cities that were built by Moroccan Berber empires), and it was founded in 1062. See The Bahia Palace, set in extensive gardens, was built in the late 19th century by the Grand Vizier of Marrakesh. The only sections open to the public are the apartments of the Sultan’s favorite concubine, the Council Chamber, where you can admire the tiled walls and illuminated cedar wood ceiling, and the Central Courtyard, paved with marble, intricate zellij tiles, and ornate fountains. See The Jemaa el-Fnaa, one of the best-known squares in Africa and the center of city activity and trade. It has been described as a "world-famous square", a metaphorical urban icon, a bridge between the past and the present. Next, go to the Saâdian Tombs, dating back to the time of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansu, and admire the pure architectural lines and delicate decorations of cedar wood and stucco in the marble mausoleums of about 60 members of the Saadi Dynasty. Your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

We had a German speaking tour with Tiab. He took a lot of time for us and he was a very pleasant guide. We booked the tour on day one, which we found very beneficial. So we could confidently go out on our own afterwards. The alleys of the medina can take some getting used to at first and for us it was good to take the "first steps" with a local guide. Tiab showed us the Jemaa el-Fna, the souks, the mosque, the Bahia Palace and the Koran school and explained a lot to us. All very very impressive. A carpet shop and a herbal shop were also part of the tour. How you deal with it is up to you! ;-)

Tour guide was very informative knew all his stuff. Was not expecting to pay on top to go in to the palace and toom garden should have been included in the price. So that is an extra 70 dirums per person. Adapt from that there is a lot of walking to do so be ready.

I was picked up punctually at the hotel. The guide was able to communicate well with me in English and / or French. We first went to the Bahia Palace and then through the Jewish Quarter to the Saadian Tombs and ended up strolling a bit through the souks. I was not rushed to shopping or anything like that. All in all, it was a bit quick and hectic, so it took only 3 hours and not as specified 5 hours, which was a shame.
