Departing from a central location in Bordeaux, this small group, half-day tour explores the beautiful Medoc wine-growing region of France. The region you will explore includes the southern region of the Medoc wine area. You will visit 2 wine estates of Classified Growth or Cru Bourgeois estates that has been carefully selected for their exceptional setting and quality of wine. Learn all there is to know about the history of the estate, the wine making process, as well as the techniques used during wine making. A wine tasting session follows the visits. After your tasting session, follow the castle road to see some of the most famous chateaus of the region, such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Palmer.

Departure from Olala Bordeaux, in the center of Bordeaux, and make your first stop at a small family-run estate for a visit and wine tasting to learn about the Medoc style and the art of blending. Visit the estate and enjoy your time in the relaxing tasting room with two blended wines. Enjoy a panoramic drive around the most famous Great Classified Growths of the Appellation and stop at Château Margaux for pictures. Carry on the exploration of the appellation with a wonderful Margaux Great Classified Growth. After a tour of the property, taste the passion behind the making of two wines from the estate before heading back to Bordeaux.

You will head towards the famous wine-producing appellations such as Margaux, Saint Julien, Pauillac and Saint Estephe. You will enjoy 3 visits in Classified Growth or Cru Bourgeois estates that have been carefully selected for their exceptional setting and quality of wine. You will learn all there is to know about the history of the estates, the wine making process, as well as the techniques used during wine making. A wine tasting session follows the visits. The Medoc area covers approximately 5,700 hectares of declared vineyards, producing an average 300,000 hectoliters of wine per year. Of the grape varieties permitted, 50% of the viticultural area is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot and Malbec. Also allowed within the AOC regulations are the varieties Cabernet Franc and Carménère. After your tasting sessions, follow the castle road to see some of the most famous châteaux of the region, such as Chateau Margaux, Chateau Palmer, or Chateau Pichon Longueville.

Take a seat in your air-conditioned minivan, then head out to the Médoc vineyards to begin your 5-hour tour. Admire the wonderful estates along the Route des Châteaux, and listen as your guide shares information about the region’s winemaking history.  The afternoon will start with a visit at a Grand Cru winery in the Margaux or St. Julien appellation. Then discover the cabernet sauvignon blends for which Bordeaux is famous. As you enjoy your visit and tastings, learn what makes Medoc wines so special. Enjoy an innovative and exciting visit at a Cru Bourgeois winery. Indulge in a wine and cheese pairing featuring Haut-Medoc appellation wines. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. After your final tasting, return in comfort to central Bordeaux.

Enjoy a wine tasting workshop in a chateau setting in the Margaux wine-growing region. To begin your wine tasting workshop, you’ll be welcomed at the reception of the chateau by your guide, who’ll lead you to where workshop takes place. The fun then begins with the presentation of a set of 6 aromas in small bottles, each to be sampled and remembered. Next, the first wine will be served, with each stage of the wine tasting explained. Your guide will then offer you a second wine very different from the first, explaining what this contrast can tell you about the wines. Following this intensive tasting course, you’ll then be ready for two blind wine tastings. Based on the color, smell, and taste of the wines, you’ll try to determine their vintage and appellation types.
