South Oahu: Whales, Chocolate & Beaches East Shore Day Trip

2. South Oahu: Whales, Chocolate & Beaches East Shore Day Trip

Set off an adventure around Oahu's East Shore, also known as Windward Oahu, from Honolulu or Waikiki. Visit Halona Blowhole, Makapu'u Lighthouse, the Manoa Chocolate Factory, Kualoa Ranch, Kualoa Regional Park, Chinaman's Hat, and Tropical Farms Macadamia Nut Farm. Begin your day with pickup at your hotel in Honolulu or Waikiki, then drive in an air-conditioned van to Halona Blowhole, where Pirates of the Caribbean, 50 First Dates, and From Here to Eternity were filmed. Next, head to Makapu'u Lighthouse for a great view of the East Shore. Be on the lookout for whales off the coast from November to May. Everyone needs a little chocolate, so make your next stop at Manoa Chocolate Factory for a chocolate tasting in the historic town of Kailua. After, grab a local farm-style lunch from Kualoa Ranch, the official film location for Jurassic Park. Take your pick from locally farmed and raised food, including hamburgers made from locally raised beef and garlic shrimp from shrimp raised onsite. The ranch offers vegetarian options too. Lunch is not included in the tour price. After lunch, relax and hang out at the beach in Kualoa Regional Park, across the street from Kualoa Ranch. Swim, bathe, and take photos with Chinaman's Hat — an island shaped like a hat — in the background. Finally, head to the Tropical Farms Macadamia Nut Farm for some coffee and macadamia nuts. Make one last stop at Tantalus Lookout for a breathtaking view of the South Shore of Oahu including Diamond head, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki and Honolulu before returning to your hotel.

Kurt was our private guide for the day and did a great job with both the food and the photo part of the tour. There were so many beautiful spots that we went to on this tour - the online description doesn't do this justice. Kurt provided us with some helpful, quick tips about taking better photos with our cellphone cameras. The food provided on this tour is delicious and plentiful - again, the online description doesn't really tell you how much value there is in this tour. We couldn't finish it all and came back to the hotel with lots of leftovers. Kurt was very kind to my partner who was not feeling well the day of our trip. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Such a great trip. Pre -information was really helpful, including photos of our pick up point. Our driver Mike was lovely and really knowledgeable, sharing lots of great stories with us. The whole day was laid back and so much nicer than a big coach party with a tight schedule. Would definitely recommend!

Jose the tour guide was nice and very knowledgable! Lots of great activities and sights to see! Very convenient to be picked up/dropped off right at the hotel. Would highly recommend to other travelers, will try other tours offered by Jose in the future!

Frankly one of the best experiences we've ever had traveling. This is a must for anyone coming to the island.

Beautiful scenery. Jose was an amazing guide. Took great care of us.
