Full description

Enjoy a half-day the stunning cities of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea. Learn about the history and rich culture of this unique Mediterranean island and sample some of Malta’s full-bodied wines at the Marsovin Cellars.

Be picked up from any hotel in Malta and board an airconditioned bus and relax on the drive to Cospicua. Pass through the city to admire sights like its double-fortified harbor city.

Continue to Vittoriosa, which is significant for its long history of maritime, mercantile, and military activities. Prior to the establishment of Valletta, military powers that wanted to rule the Maltese islands, needed control Vittoriosa, due to its Grand Harbor.

Head to the city of Senglea, which managed to resist the Ottoman invasion at the Great Siege of 1565. Walk through the charming narrow streets of the town, shaded by dozens of historic churches and buildings.

Make your way to the Marsovin cellars in Marsa. Start your cellar tour with a historical introduction, followed by an explanation about the process of how locally grown grapes are pressed, fermented, and eventually transformed into wine.

Go for a walk through the 400-year-old ageing cellars, which provides an authentic piece of Maltese heritage. Visit the wine bar, where trained staff guide guests through a wine-tasting session paired with snacks like Maltese bread and cheese.

It was more of a wine tasting than a 3 cities tour. We stopped at a spot and walked through one of the cities with a bit of a history lesson, then went into a quick tour of the wine distillery. Interesting, but a bit less of the 3 cities than expected.

A very nice trip mainly due to a guide who, in a great and ironic style, was able to tell and show both the historical outline of the places visited and also refer to the present. At the end, for dessert, there is a tasting and a short tour of the wine mills in Mars. I recommend!

We were picked up at Mdina Gate. There was quite a long wait by the Corinthian Hotel, where we eventually transferred to large coach. We would have preferred this journey to be direct. On the coach, there was a commentary while we drove to the first stop. After this we walked for about an hour, with a break for coffee. The second stop was the wine cellar, with a brief talk, a visit to the cellars and then the wine tasting, with some nibbles. Returning to Mdina, our transport to Mdina Gate was direct, which was much better.
