Malindi City: Marafa Hells Kitchen Day Excursion.

3. Malindi City: Marafa Hells Kitchen Day Excursion.

Malindi,Marafa Hells Kitchen Excursion is a half-day tour to a mini-canyon officially known as Hell’s Kitchen located 1 hour’s drive from Malindi town. There is nothing evil in Malindi’s Hell’s Kitchen but a very hot little canyon. The site is located in the town of Marafa a small unassuming village with conspicuous baobab trees. The Depression is an odd sandstone canyon. Known locally as Nyari – “the place broken by itself” – it was once a great sandstone ridge worn by wind, rain, and floods into a series of jagged gorges. The layer-cake colors of the sandstone reveal whites, pinks, oranges, and deep crimsons, making the gorge particularly striking at sundown when tones of the ribbed sandstone gullies are highlighted and mirrored by those of the setting sun. Sunset is particularly evocative and we recommend planning your trip in the afternoon so as to finish the day with a truly moving moment: it is as if the rocks have caught fire! Enjoy the nature walk in the evening and later on, you will be able to observe baboons and hyenas in that place before a magic sunset. The best time to visit is in the afternoon after lunch. After the beautiful and informative walking tour of the place with a guide, you will be welcomed to rest on the benches around as you enjoy the most beautiful sight of Sunset in Africa. Enjoy a minute-by-minute setting of the sun as it bids goodbye to the day, the colors of the African sunset and the variety of soils at hell’s kitchen will leave you with tears of joy. It’s an Amazing site. Notes. * Marafa Hells Kitchen excursion duration is 4 Hours * Hell’s Kitchen is located in Marafa, a town approximately 45 minutes from Malindi Town * Best Time to Visit: early morning and late afternoon. Hell’s Kitchen is best visited after 2:30 pm as during mid-day the place gets so hot therefore highly recommended to visit later in the afternoon when the temperatures are a little lower for you to enjoy the experience fully

Juma and his team were great. They were very friendly and made us feel welcome. They waited for us because our disembarkation process was delayed. We were on a cruise and had only 13 hours in port, so we booked a Tsavo day trip. We made it to ship on time and safely! We saw various animals (elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostrich...) in this limited time. Driver was very skilled and stopped at the same stops for the coffee break as the cruise ship tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and told us a lot of information about the park and Kenya. We would recommend this trip to anyone who has limited time in Mombasa.

Pick up time 5am. The evening before someone texted me that we would be picked up at 4:30. Our driver was on time. We drove 3.5 hours. to the park. There was a lot of traffic, you can't drive very fast. At the meeting point there is a small shop where you can have breakfast or buy souvenirs. Another guide gave me his cell phone to buy a ticket. Only works online!! Be sure to take your credit card with you. The tour was great. We saw lots of animals. It's tiring in one day, but it was totally worth it.

Had a wonderful trip, did everything in 1 day, which made it a very long day, more than 18 hours on the road. But if you prepare yourself for it, this is perfectly doable. Guides had a beautiful route through the park and were able to see lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, zebras and much more.

My partner and I really enjoyed it and can only recommend this safari. We were a bit lucky that there were only two of us in the car, but you can also ask whether it is basically possible alone or with the family. Either way you have to do it and every cent was a great investment :-)

A very nice trip for this price. An amazing experience and great holiday memories :) everything went quickly and smoothly, we saw a lot of animals, we are very pleased :)
